I’m pressing on the upward way

1
I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I onward bound,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”
  Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan’s tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
  Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
2
My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where these abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.
3
I want to live above the world,
Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.
4
I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I’ll pray till rest I’ve found,
“Lord, lead me on to higher ground.”

The word "Canaan's" shouldn't be there. It’s "heaven's" tableland

This song plays in my mind as the Holy Spirit awakens me to prayer at 3am or 4am in the early hours of the morning . Also, l am in a season of prayer and fasting and the lyrics encourage me that God is calling me ever higher in prayer to be seated with him in heavenly places. He is waiting for me in the garden of persevering, earnest and fervent prayer. My desire is to answer the call and to press ever upward in prayer to another , and another and yet another height in him. Indeed he awaits us all to come and spend hours in prevailing prayer, seeking his will and in intercession for the church of the living God and our desperate world.

This song was my mother's favorite. This song has also become my favorite too. This should always be the desire of our hearts for the Lord to plant our feet on higher ground. Let us be obedient to His commandments. This is the only way to get to higher ground.

Seating in my living room, watching Pst Prince on TBN preach on THE POWER OF THE SPOKEN WORD, and this hymn dropped in my spirit and I started singing and I realized that every word speaks about where I am and where God is taken me to. I just know that this is the word of God to me right now. Hallelujah!

To be in the spirit is the key, the secret. In the spirit we will experience many wonderful things of Christ because we have crossed the Jordan and entered into Canaan. When we are in the spirit, we are in the rest, and we are in the Holy of Holies. Therefore, we must always renounce the natural man, the outer man. For example, many times in the Lord's work I was tempted by the enemy to quarrel with others. On those occasions I felt that my reason was right, that the case was mine, and that I had the doctrine to support me. Yet while I was trying to speak, something deep within restricted me and stopped me. In order to go along with that deep feeling, I had to drop my quarreling. Consequently, it seemed that I had nothing to say. But I can testify that every time I went along with the spirit, there was victory. If we take care of our spirit, the mighty One in our spirit will be our strength. We will be transcendent and victorious over many things. When we come to the meetings, we will come with many items of Christ to contribute, either in prayer, singing, giving a testimony, or speaking a short word. Philippians 4:13 says, "I am able to do all things in Him who empowers me." But where does Christ empower us? He empowers us in our spirit. Our mind is the stronghold and the open gate for the enemy, but our spirit is the base for the Lord to do His work. Thus, when we go along with the mind, we are defeated, even though we may be doing something good. But if we go along with the spirit, we will be victorious. We will be on a high mountain, on higher ground, and, in the words of a hymn, "on Canaan's tableland" (Hymns, #396). We will be in the heavens and will be transcendent.
