Standing on the promises of Christ my King

1
Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.
  Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.
2
Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.
3
Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.
4
Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.
5
Standing on the promises I shall not fall,
List’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call.
Resting in my Savior as my All in all,
Standing on the promises of God.

Just crying as I read between the lines of this piece. Counting down to the blessings of God, mercy and favour He shewed me last year being 2017. It’s really wonderful to stand in the promises of God. I am believing God for a super testimonies this 2018. There is He who blessed me last year, He is still alive and doeth mightier things. Praise God!

It was between late January and February 1997. We were about concluding an annual covenant church service. I stood behind the pulpit seperated by a wall at the back of the church extension? The song was sang and I was overwhelmed, completely immersed. I promised my self and God, I will ever stand on the Promises of God which cannot fail. I was already married without a fruit after nine years. I had no vehicle, no house of my own. My job put me at the lowest. Twenty years down the line, I can shout and sing the praises of Jesus my King that it really pays to stand on the promises of God, which cannot fail. Today, I am blessed with three pretty daughters and a son, houses, lands and cars. Moreover, a vision to the highest rank of my category in my career was fulfilled. The LORD be praised in the highest.

'When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,

By the living Word of God I shall prevail' are words from this classic that have restored my sense of Who God is to me in every circumstance of life. Taught to me 46 years ago, the words vibrantly came to life this morning to minister to my greatly troubled heart. Thank You Jesus for this indescribable gift!

What a wonderful blessing these hymns are, to sing these wonderful truths praising our God and Saviour in song and to sing them that others may hear of our confidence, our peace, our joy, our hope. When all else can fail, when the things of this world become too heavy to bear, we know we have something better in Christ Jesus our Lord. Praise God for His mercy and grace!

Thinking over a conversation I had with my son last night regarding a recent diagnosis of a medical condition that affects both of his children and threatens their future offspring. While facing the reality of the situation, this morning I choose to place my faith on the promises of God to bless my family and future generations. This old hymn came to mind as I prayed this morning, and reminds me not only of the infallibility of God's Word, but of previous generations of my family who have sung this hymn, believed every word, and lived out the blessing of its truth.

It's 4am in the morning here in Australia. I woke with this lovely hymn having featured in my dream, and with the lyrics on my heart. God bless the author and of course the dear Lord for saving me in the Summer of 1982. I'm standing on His promises at the age of 71.

I have been though a series of events since 2013 that have included the death of one son in 2015, other son in 2016, death of granddaughter last March, also a niece and 2 nephews. The pain sometimes wants to smother me, so I go to praise music. I am feeling the peace as this plays on and on. The burden is lifting.

Today 18th September 2017, as I woke up for quiet time, the hymn was the first that pop from my spirit!

Glory to God for the blessedness a hymnal as this! God bless hymnal.net and the composer!

I stand on His promises as none of His word will return voided without accomplishing that which it was sent forth!
