My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus’ name. |
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand, All other ground is sinking sand. |

When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace; In every high and stormy gale, My anchor holds within the veil. |

When He shall come with trumpet sound, Oh, may I then in Him be found; In Him, my righteousness, alone, Faultless to stand before the throne. |

This song is so comforting in distresses. Today for me the sun is shining and this song came up in my being. I am surprised at the recent traffic for this ‘old’ hymn. We know we need Him in our distress but even more in the shining.
Robert Smock, a good question.
Seems to me that Jesus blood and righteousness could be mistaken for two different things. Jesus denotes His humanity with precious blood. Sometimes people pray for compassion, humility, peace, actually the Lord is all these things to us. We just need more of Him not this and that. He IS our righteousness. Hopefully someone else will comment.

Why did you change the very first statement in the first verse? The original lyric is "My hope is built on nothing less than JESUS BLOOD AND RIGHTEOUSNESS. There is one who doesn't like mentioning Jesus' shed blood.
