Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise.
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise.
2
Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
Nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might;
Thy justice like mountains high soaring above
Thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.
Nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might;
Thy justice like mountains high soaring above
Thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.
3
To all life Thou givest, to both great and small;
In all life Thou livest, the true life of all;
We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
And wither and perish, but nought changeth Thee.
In all life Thou livest, the true life of all;
We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
And wither and perish, but nought changeth Thee.
4
Great Father of Glory, pure Father of Light
Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight;
All laud we would render, O help us to see:
’Tis only the splendor of light hideth Thee.
Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight;
All laud we would render, O help us to see:
’Tis only the splendor of light hideth Thee.

The song wells up from my spirit often, especially early in the morning. It reminds me of my mother Church - The Anglican Communion lol-
Great Song, never old nor outdated, has deep spiritual insights.
God's Greatness be Praised for ever.

I was listening to the radio on my religious station and heard the man say Almighty invisible God. This song just flooded my mind and took me back to primary school where we would sing it during school Assembly. We were between the ages of 7 and 10 but we were singing some big words and this is a deep song. Now 60 years later, I still remember the song and I understand all of the hyperboles and wholeheartedly agree with them.

This song came to me while trying to sleep. I just had to get up and meditate on it. It shows the greatness and grandeur of our God. It also made me to remember my Anglican background- some of the ways the priests refer to God. Father, You are Great.
Immortal - the one that lives for ever. Oba aiku
Invisible - that cannot be seen with our naked eyes
The One who dwells in unapproachable light
Even the angels have to cover their faces and legs when they approach You.

This hymn has been ringing in my spirit for a while now, awakening in me the consciousness of the endless splendor of God's nature. Today I have had the honour of waking with it. Thanks to this site. You crowned it all.

I was sitting here thinking about the new week, thankfully trusting God ahead of time and this hymn dropped in my spirit. God is invisible yet we see his hand, we feel his power, we sense his presence.
