1
Remove my covering, Lord,
That I may see Thy light,
And be deceived no more,
But all things see aright.
That I may see Thy light,
And be deceived no more,
But all things see aright.
Oh, may Thy living light, Lord,
Scatter all my night, Lord,
And everything make bright, Lord,
For this I pray to Thee.
Scatter all my night, Lord,
And everything make bright, Lord,
For this I pray to Thee.
2
I hardly know myself;
Deceived so much by pride,
I often think I’m right
And am self-satisfied.
Deceived so much by pride,
I often think I’m right
And am self-satisfied.
3
I know Thee even less;
In doctrine, shallowly;
True revelation lack
Of Thy reality.
In doctrine, shallowly;
True revelation lack
Of Thy reality.
4
As for Thy life within,
In darkness I mistake—
If spirit or the flesh,
One for the other take.
In darkness I mistake—
If spirit or the flesh,
One for the other take.
5
As for Thy way, O Lord,
I often am not clear;
I toward seclusion tend
And from the pathway veer.
I often am not clear;
I toward seclusion tend
And from the pathway veer.
6
As for Thy will for me,
I do not know it well;
I substitute my own
And often would rebel.
I do not know it well;
I substitute my own
And often would rebel.
7
As for the church, I need
Thy revelation more,
The Body-life to know,
Thy wisdom to explore.
Thy revelation more,
The Body-life to know,
Thy wisdom to explore.
8
I long to be unveiled,
In everything made clear,
No more to be deceived
Or to my pride adhere.
In everything made clear,
No more to be deceived
Or to my pride adhere.

Oh Lord Jesus You are my light! Outside of You there is nothing but deception. You are our light Lord! Keep us open to Your shining! Oh Father! Your shining kills all the bad cells in our soul! Father! Father! Keep us open to Your shining. Shine in us more today! Beholding! and reflecting! the Glory of our Lord! Amen! Amen! Oh Lord Jesus!

Hi is there any church in Brandon, Manitoba Canada? I have a friend who wants to see and experience the church there? thank you...:)

Often times, our failures are a source of great light. This light functions to shine and to enlighten us (John 1:9). This light many times will expose us and show us our true condition, the type of person we really are. We may not like the shining and it may hurt a lot, but we must be willing to bear the cross and suffer loss for His sake.
When singing this hymn, my heart was touched in particular with the lines, "I hardly know myself, deceived so much by pride.. and I know Thee even less." I came to realize how much pride and self-righteousness was in me.
But praise the Lord, as the great light He not only shines, but he also chases all our darkness away.
John 1:5, "And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it."
John 12:46, "I have come as light into the world, that everyone who believes into Me would not remain in darkness."
Thank You Lord for Your shining in our hearts. Through Your shining, we can realize how much we really need You. If the Lord can use someone as unstable as Peter and transform him into a living stone, then we can believe He can transform us as well. May we continue to seek and love the Lord's living light.

I love this song because it is simple and pure, yet, it a very practical prayer for me. Lord day by day, moment by moment, uncover me that I may see Thy light. Do not let the enemy deceive me anymore. Unveil me Lord, I need to see You more!

I am young and in love with the Lord! This song is very touching to the heart towards me. I love singing this song and always makes me feel satisfied inside the heart. It always refreshes me and recovers me from all evil and worldly things that is surrounding me. Praise the Lord! ☺

I really enjoy this prayer song. Especially verse two is very encouraging to me. Also in 1 Pet. 5:5-6 ... All of you gird yourself with humility towward one another, because God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Therefore be humbled under the mighty hand of God that He may exalt you in due time.
