Today, Lord, Today

NS845
1
Lord, today, I open my being
And allow Your flame to search my inward parts;
Burn away all the wicked way in my heart,
Cleanse away, Lord, today, today.
2
If my Bridegroom further delays,
Shall I passive be while waiting for too long?
As I wait I’d be clothed with Thy garment,
As a bride adorned for her Husband to be, to be.
3
Lord, it’s just a matter of time
You would make us all perfected somehow.
But I’d rather be judged and exposed now
Than to wait for that coming day,
Lest I miss Thy face
Today, today, Lord, today.

And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted and said, Surely I will go down to Sheol to my son, mourning. Thus his father wept for him.

Meanwhile, the Midianites had sold him in Egypt to Potiphar

Genesis 37:35-36

Gen. 37:36, note 1

The time from the selling of Joseph to the sending of Jacob’s sons to Egypt (Gen.  42:1-5) was at least twenty years. In the record of Jacob those twenty years were a time of silence. Through the loss of Joseph, Jacob became a person who was absolutely open to God. It must have been that during those years God dispensed Himself into Jacob more and more, until Jacob was filled with the divine life unto maturity.

Lord make me an open being today.
