Draw me, dear Lord
Draw me, dear Lord
Draw me, dear Lord. Draw me today. From everything else, dear Lord, Draw me away. |

O Lord, this whole world Seems to weigh me down. All the cares, the strife, the sin, Within me and all around. |

But, Lord, I want to set my heart, And, Lord, I want to stay with You. ’Cause only when You’re near to me Is everything okay. |

And though everything may fall apart Or everything go my way, It doesn’t really matter, Lord, As long as I gain You today. |

But, Lord, I choose to set my heart,
And, Lord, I choose to stay with You.
’Cause only when You’re near to me
Is everything okay.

I really love simplicity and accuracy with which this hymn describes my usual daily experience... this whole world, all the cares, the strife and the sin, within me and all around, seem to weigh me down... Sometimes there are these days when everything falls apart, another time everything seems good and going my way but suddenly, in the midst of the day, when by grace I stop my being for a moment- I find myself away from Him, drained and hollow. Then this hymn serves as a prayer: Draw me, dear Lord. Draw me today, right now and here, draw me away from everything. Lord, I want to stay with You. Cause only when you're near to me is everything ok...
