1
Speak, Lord, in the stillness,
While I wait on Thee;
Hushed my heart to listen,
In expectancy.
While I wait on Thee;
Hushed my heart to listen,
In expectancy.
2
Speak, O blessed Master,
In this quiet hour;
Let me see Thy face, Lord,
Feel Thy touch of power.
In this quiet hour;
Let me see Thy face, Lord,
Feel Thy touch of power.
3
For the words Thou speakest,
They are life indeed;
Living bread from heaven,
Now my spirit feed!
They are life indeed;
Living bread from heaven,
Now my spirit feed!
4
All to Thee is yielded,
I am not my own;
Blissful, glad surrender,
I am Thine alone.
I am not my own;
Blissful, glad surrender,
I am Thine alone.
5
Speak, Thy servant heareth,
Be not silent, Lord;
Waits my soul upon Thee
For the quickening word.
Be not silent, Lord;
Waits my soul upon Thee
For the quickening word.
6
Fill me with the knowledge
Of Thy glorious will;
All Thine own good pleasure
In Thy child fulfill.
Of Thy glorious will;
All Thine own good pleasure
In Thy child fulfill.
7
Like a watered garden,
Full of fragrance rare,
Lingering in Thy presence,
Let my life appear.
Full of fragrance rare,
Lingering in Thy presence,
Let my life appear.

Love this old hymn from my childhood - seldom sung now. I have recently been challenged to spend 15 mins a day just listening to God speak to me and have used the words of the first verse as a prayer before each session. Beautiful.

"Speak Lord .... While I wait on Thee;" When God spoke to Samuel the first time, he thought it was his master Eli, the priest and judge of Israel. As instructed by Eli, he responded: "Speak, for Your servant is listening.” Apart from the Lord Jesus Himself, there is not a person in the Bible who followed God closer then Samuel did. And God entrusted the boy with a message of doom normally not meant for a child to hear. Samuel listened to God with a servant's heart and he became a great man in the Kingdom of God.
I find it hard to listen, I have so much to say. God help me to linger in Your presence!

What a beautiful, lyrical prayer. I have known these words much of my life, although not sung them in church in recent years. This morning as I thought of my oft repeated prayer from Psalm 119:18, these words sprang to mind.
Beautiful words. May I hear His voice. I will be still and wait.
