Day by day, and with each passing moment

1
Day by day, and with each passing moment,
Strength I find to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment,
I’ve no cause for worry or for fear.
He, whose heart is kind beyond all measure,
Gives unto each day what He deems best,
Lovingly its part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and rest.
2
Every day the Lord Himself is near me,
With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear and cheer me,
He whose name is Counsellor and Pow’r.
The protection of His child and treasure
Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
“As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,”
This the pledge to me He made.
3
Help me then, in every tribulation,
So to trust Thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith’s sweet consolation,
Offered me within Thy holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
E’er to take, as from a father’s hand,
One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
Till with Christ the Lord I stand.

We found this song page in my grandma's purse the day after she passed away. We had her funeral yesterday. She will be missed but now when I hear this song I can think of her and the message of this song.

The words of this song came to me during my devotion this morning and I could not remember everything; I googled and got to this site. Awesome! I only knew the first stanza. I'm going through challenging times as a survivor of domestic violence and now single mom, it's like Lord, how could I have avoided all this. I will visit here again & again to drink from this fountain. God bless you.

I have always known this was an amazing and very beautiful song. Recently it has really been helping me through some trials of my own. These trials will always be with us until we are with Christ. I have been very blessed to grow up around true Christians and around missionaries. I have friends that have died and put in prison in China and Indonesia for their faith. Let's never forget to pray for those we do not know that are facing persecution all over this world. We must be ready to face whatever God sees fit to bring our way and trust Him. Thank you to the one from Korea for the scripture reference. It blessed my heart. Acts 16:31, James 1:12....Let us be patient and trusting in God for one day we will mount up with wings as eagles! God bless all those who believe and who are seeking Him.

It is so unique and beautiful, it displays the wonderful attributes of God, the depth of His love and compassion of His towards us. I believe it is just as effective today as the day it was written.

This song has never been one of my favorites until now, because of the way it is played. So sweetly. Thank you, Hymnal.net!

I feel so lonely tonight; doing God's work alone in this city. One of my partner left me to do God's will, but I remember this song, and tonight I sing it with my Lord. I can feel that He is with me tonight, holding my hands and saying to not worry for everything ahead me. He's already proved it through all my life. Why shouldn't I trust Him now. Thank You my dear Lord.

This song has always been special to me and I just copied part of it to send to my daughter who has been going through some hard times. The phrase that has stuck with me most since I first heard it is "The protection of His child and treasure is a charge that on Himself he laid." What better place could we ever be than the hands of our Almighty Loving Heavenly Father?

I like this song because of its wonderful melody. The text contains very deep truths of our Christian faith. The Lord really knows our necessities and He also helps us when we're going through the dark lonesome valley. This song should be sung in every church around this world.

This song my dad has whistled and sung for years. He was a missionarry for over 30 years in West Africa, and it met his heart's needs. A lot of missionary friends of his love this song.

This is one of the most beautifully written songs I have ever heard. I wish more churches would bring hymns into their type of worship, for many reasons. All positive reasons. I love this song!
