When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way;
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way;
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Trust and obey,
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.
2
Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear,
Not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear,
Not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
3
Not a burden we bear,
Not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss,
Not a frown or a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey.
Not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss,
Not a frown or a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey.
4
But we never can prove
The delights of His love,
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows,
And the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
The delights of His love,
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows,
And the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
5
Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do;
Where He sends, we will go,
Never fear, only trust and obey.
We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do;
Where He sends, we will go,
Never fear, only trust and obey.

If we can but just trust and obey Him our lives will never experience any dark moment.

My dad said this was his mom's favorite song. She sang it over and over during WWII to help her trust God to be with her sons serving their country (USA). I have always loved it and the Lord brings it to me whenever I need Him the most. Yes, God bless those men and women of God who wrote these wonderful old hymns!

I love this inspiring song. My best part is verse 4. That we never can prove the delight of His of love until all on the altar we lay. Until we offer ourselves as living sacrifice that is holy and acceptable that is when we get to know the extent of His boundless love. Halleluyah.

The Lord asked me a question during week. Why do men lie? As I thought about it, it occurred to me that because most times they do not have the power or resources to bring to pass what they promised. God is not a man that should lie or the son of man that should repent. All powers in heaven and on earth are with Him. All resources are at His disposal. That includes men. So be rest assured. What He said He will do He will do.

My four year old daughter just learned it in school today. When I heard her singing, I remembered I simply need to trust and obey our heavenly Father.

Him to trust and obey may seem very difficult, but in reality it is a source of joy.

Your trust in Him and obedience to His word guarantees your access to the glory He sheds on our way. Just Trust and Obey and be blessed.

The trust of this hymn blesses my heart. Teach me Lord to trust and obey You so that I can be happy in my relationship with You.

It is wonderful to note how our gracious Lord leads us in mysterious ways and teach us to trust Him and obey Him when we are in despair and weak and have no strength of our own. May the Lord bless me to trust and obey Him all of my life. Amen.

While meditating on Hebrews 11:8, the chorus of this hymn came to mind.
Heb 11:8 By faith - believing what God had said unto him expressing confidence in the person who had promised
Abraham, the individual whom God had called (when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; - this was Abraham's heart response to God's call and he went out, - this was Abraham's physical response to what his heart had already responded to not knowing whither he went. - he had never been in the place before. He believed that God was going to provide what He promised.
