O Jesus, I have promised
To serve Thee to the end;
Be Thou forever near me,
My Master and my Friend;
I shall not fear the battle
If Thou art by my side,
Nor wander from the pathway
If Thou wilt be my Guide.
To serve Thee to the end;
Be Thou forever near me,
My Master and my Friend;
I shall not fear the battle
If Thou art by my side,
Nor wander from the pathway
If Thou wilt be my Guide.
2
Oh, let me feel Thee near me;
The world is ever near;
I see the sights that dazzle,
The tempting sounds I hear;
My foes are ever near me,
Around me and within;
But, Jesus, draw Thou nearer,
And shield my soul from sin.
The world is ever near;
I see the sights that dazzle,
The tempting sounds I hear;
My foes are ever near me,
Around me and within;
But, Jesus, draw Thou nearer,
And shield my soul from sin.

Oh, let me hear Thee speaking,
In accents clear and still,
Above the storms of passion,
The murmurs of self-will;
Oh, speak to reassure me,
To hasten, or control;
Oh, speak, and make me listen,
Thou Guardian of my soul.
In accents clear and still,
Above the storms of passion,
The murmurs of self-will;
Oh, speak to reassure me,
To hasten, or control;
Oh, speak, and make me listen,
Thou Guardian of my soul.

O Jesus, Thou hast promised
To all who follow Thee
That where Thou art in glory
There shall Thy servant be;
And Jesus, I have promised
To serve Thee to the end;
Oh, give me grace to follow,
My Master and my Friend.
To all who follow Thee
That where Thou art in glory
There shall Thy servant be;
And Jesus, I have promised
To serve Thee to the end;
Oh, give me grace to follow,
My Master and my Friend.
5
Oh, let me see Thy footmarks,
And in them plant mine own;
My hope to follow duly
Is in Thy strength alone.
Oh, guide me, call me, draw me,
Uphold me to the end;
And then to rest receive me,
My Savior and my Friend.
And in them plant mine own;
My hope to follow duly
Is in Thy strength alone.
Oh, guide me, call me, draw me,
Uphold me to the end;
And then to rest receive me,
My Savior and my Friend.

At 73 years old, I woke up at around 5:30am this morning very concerned about my future in this time of the Covid-19 Pandemic and Government Elections when this Old favourite Hymn entered my thoughts. I was reminded that over 60 years ago as I child in High School I promised to serve Jesus to the end.
I searched for the Lyrics on Google and was reminded of Jesus' promises to all who follow Him. I was overwhelmed with gratitude! Thank you my Saviour, my King, and my Friend, Christ Jesus!

I woke up singing this old hymn and what a reminder that we have His Holy Spirit with us to be Our Guide
He always draws us to the Savior, Jesus Christ. We do not have to fear. He will be with us to the end of our days. Hallelujah!

This song just came out from my lips and I had to Google the lyrics. It has a reconnecting power back to the Savior Jesus. For me it's a reassurance.
Hope to make it my daily hymn
Hallelujah

This song is deep

My 91 year old Aunt Helen asked for this to be sung at her funeral service which is Aug 20th, 2020. I do not remember hearing this before and find it inspiring and humbling. Thank you God for all your graces! May Aunt Helen rest in peace.

The lyrics of this hymn are too deep. My best hymn for always.

I also remember singing this as a child, I remember meaning every word, now 65 years later, I still do. I have staggered at times and fallen on my face often but Jesus has held me in his hands and picked me up even when I didn't want to go on. I see now he never let me go and I know he never will. Praise the Lord.

I used to sing this song in my school days but I never really appreciated the benefits derivable from it.
Today, I overhead a nearby Church sing it and had to Google the lyrics.
I have sang all through and I feel reconnected to my Creator. The wordings are exceptionally helpful in drawing me nearer to God.
I'll make it my daily song, particularly when I'm faced with the woes of life.
To God be the glory!
