I’m pressing on the upward way

1
I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I onward bound,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”
  Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan’s tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
  Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
2
My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where these abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.
3
I want to live above the world,
Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.
4
I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I’ll pray till rest I’ve found,
“Lord, lead me on to higher ground.”

Getting ready for work and my son tried to put my hymnal in my bag. I laughed and took it back out. Then at work this hymn came to mind. But I couldn't remember the words! Thanks for such a great resource.

This morning this song was sung to me in my dream. I kept on singing it till I woke up. Decided to look up the lyrics. This is amazing. God was definitely trying to tell me something. That no matter what I must continue to press on. The chorus kept on playing over and over. "Lord Plant my feet on higher ground" May the Lord plant our feet on higher ground. Amen.

It is my duty to press on. There will be doubts and fears. The enemy will hurl their darts. I have heights to scale. The LORD, my God, is the One that will take me to HIGHER GROUND.

Soul-inspiring hymn.

Indeed, if we 'll keep pressing on by faith, trusting and obeying the Lord, irrespective of the darts Satan may be hurling at us, we 'll scale the utmost height and will not only catch a glimpse of glory bright but will ultimately be adorned with the white robe and together with the angels and the elders sing the worship song of Revelation 7:12.

God help us in Jesus Name.

This song reminds me that we are on a sojourn on this earth and we have a home which is our destination. And every passing second of our life we are on a walk to that glory land.

Ever day when we walk with the Lord we gain new height towards that Glorious home. Lord Jesus give me more grace to keep pressing on irrespective of the challenges that life may haul at me, I know if I press onto the end the Crown of glory sure await me on THAT DAY.

Lord I bless Your name for this song.

Speaking to seniors/elderly about pressing toward the mark of a higher calling/higher ground. Not time to sit down, time to get down on the knees. Keep your eyes on the prize!

To be in the spirit is the key, the secret. In the spirit we will experience many wonderful things of Christ because we have crossed the Jordan and entered into Canaan. When we are in the spirit, we are in the rest, and we are in the Holy of Holies. Therefore, we must always renounce the natural man, the outer man. For example, many times in the Lord's work I was tempted by the enemy to quarrel with others. On those occasions I felt that my reason was right, that the case was mine, and that I had the doctrine to support me. Yet while I was trying to speak, something deep within restricted me and stopped me. In order to go along with that deep feeling, I had to drop my quarreling. Consequently, it seemed that I had nothing to say. But I can testify that every time I went along with the spirit, there was victory. If we take care of our spirit, the mighty One in our spirit will be our strength. We will be transcendent and victorious over many things. When we come to the meetings, we will come with many items of Christ to contribute, either in prayer, singing, giving a testimony, or speaking a short word. Philippians 4:13 says, "I am able to do all things in Him who empowers me." But where does Christ empower us? He empowers us in our spirit. Our mind is the stronghold and the open gate for the enemy, but our spirit is the base for the Lord to do His work. Thus, when we go along with the mind, we are defeated, even though we may be doing something good. But if we go along with the spirit, we will be victorious. We will be on a high mountain, on higher ground, and, in the words of a hymn, "on Canaan's tableland" (Hymns, #396). We will be in the heavens and will be transcendent.
