I’m pressing on the upward way

1
I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I onward bound,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan’s tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
  Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
2
My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where these abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.
3
I want to live above the world,
Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.
4
I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I’ll pray till rest I’ve found,
“Lord, lead me on to higher ground.”

Amazing hymn

I love the old hymns, I believe they come back to me at times because we remember Spiritual things, they stay inside of us and our spirits recall them when we need them or feel His peace. I sang this one in the Baptist church a long time ago and it just came to my mind tonight.

Love all you saints from Nigeria and Africa and all over the world, we are one in Jesus.

A song of confession. Men ought always to pray.

See me shedding tears as I sing this song.....

Jesus Christ is real...

I am always inspired by this soul lifting hymn, whenever I am down, I raise this hymn and get my spiritual strength restored and boosted, may the souls of Charles Hutchison and Johnson Oatmancontinue to rest on at the Bossom of Christ, till we meet on the resurrection morning.

God bless Charles Hutchinson (1856-1932) and Johnson Oatman Jr. (1856-1926) and Co that put their efforts to compile this Soul-lifting, restoration and revival hymn.

Each time I raised this hymn my soul is lifted, revived and blessed. The inspiration came directly from the throne room of the father.

I was fasting and praying for God's mercies and for him to reveal himself to me. I sang songs of hymn to the LORD. I was then moved to search for this hymn since It was long I sang it. Wonderful holy spirit gave me this song. I have played a number of times now. My soul is being refreshed every time I play it. I pray for God's mercies on those who are on the wrong path, that God leads them to righteousness. God bless the composer of this song. May the name of the Lord be glorified in Jesus name Amen. God bless you all as you play this beautiful song Amen.

To be in the spirit is the key, the secret. In the spirit we will experience many wonderful things of Christ because we have crossed the Jordan and entered into Canaan. When we are in the spirit, we are in the rest, and we are in the Holy of Holies. Therefore, we must always renounce the natural man, the outer man. For example, many times in the Lord's work I was tempted by the enemy to quarrel with others. On those occasions I felt that my reason was right, that the case was mine, and that I had the doctrine to support me. Yet while I was trying to speak, something deep within restricted me and stopped me. In order to go along with that deep feeling, I had to drop my quarreling. Consequently, it seemed that I had nothing to say. But I can testify that every time I went along with the spirit, there was victory. If we take care of our spirit, the mighty One in our spirit will be our strength. We will be transcendent and victorious over many things. When we come to the meetings, we will come with many items of Christ to contribute, either in prayer, singing, giving a testimony, or speaking a short word. Philippians 4:13 says, "I am able to do all things in Him who empowers me." But where does Christ empower us? He empowers us in our spirit. Our mind is the stronghold and the open gate for the enemy, but our spirit is the base for the Lord to do His work. Thus, when we go along with the mind, we are defeated, even though we may be doing something good. But if we go along with the spirit, we will be victorious. We will be on a high mountain, on higher ground, and, in the words of a hymn, "on Canaan's tableland" (Hymns, #396). We will be in the heavens and will be transcendent.
