Amazing grace! how sweet the sound, That saved a wretch; like me! I once was lost, but now am found, Was blind, but now I see. |

’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed! |

The Lord hath promised good to me, His word my hope secures; He will my shield and portion be As long as life endures. |

When we’ve been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun, We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise Than when we first begun. |

We are familiar with the hymn "Amazing Grace." Although this is a good hymn, it does not speak of the Triune God as our portion for our enjoyment. When this hymn was written, the experiential knowledge of God among the Lord's people had not come to this point. Even as recent as fifty years ago, Christians did not have the understanding of grace as the Triune God experienced and enjoyed by us. But standing on the shoulders of those who have gone before us, we have come to know that grace is far more than merely unmerited favor. Grace is the Triune God—the Father, the Son, and the Spirit—processed for our experience and enjoyment.

To me, it's a song of HOPE. I've loved it since I was a child, and now it has double meaning for me, as I lost my beloved husband (a decorated, twice- wounded Marine)last April (2003), and at his full military service, I had Amazing Grace played by a lone Bagpiper, symbolizing (in my husband's ancestral Scotland) playing the spirit home to rest. It was truly beautiful and awe-inspiring. A friend sent me this wonderful site. Thank you for all this inspiration.

This song has always touched my heart but 3 years ago I had to lay my daughter to rest and this was the song played at her funeral. This was the song I HAD TO HAVE PLAYED.
This song reminds me of God's eternal love for mankind and I have much hope in His grace and mercies as long as I trust in Him to keep and guide me in life.
It is one that everyone loves and enjoys singing because of its graceful rythm and tone.
Because it shows how much God loves us, and displays the eternal blessing of His grace, power, mercy, beauty, love, and all His other truly amazing and divine qualities that only the one true God could have.
