1
Amazing grace! how sweet the sound,
  That saved a wretch; like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
  Was blind, but now I see.
2
’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
  And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
  The hour I first believed!
3
The Lord hath promised good to me,
  His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
  As long as life endures.
4
When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
  Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
  Than when we first begun.

Please watch the movie Amazing Grace which is about William Wilberforce and the abolition of slavery in the British empire. He knew Newton (author of the hymn) which encouraged Wilberforce. Newton had been the captain of a slave ship until his conversion which is what the hymn addresses. Wonderful movie and you will never hear the hymn again without thinking of Wilberforce who led the fight to abolish the slave trade. May God bless his soul!

I heard this song when I was small at church but today I heard it in a movie named NEVER HEARD an I break down in tears an stopped watching the movie because I've heard so much pains in my life.. I lost my career as a footballer an depression an anxiety came but something keeps me going I feel reject an betrayed by God, I thought of suicide one day an I made up my mind let it end today I was alone in my room an I heard a knock on my door an I asked who's at the door an it was my father an he said ayikien why are you crying an I said I wasn't crying an I asked him who told you I was crying an he replied me that my elder brothers child two of them both aged between 7 to 10 went to him that he should come check on me that am crying... An today I know it was the LORD'S amazing grace

We are familiar with the hymn "Amazing Grace." Although this is a good hymn, it does not speak of the Triune God as our portion for our enjoyment. When this hymn was written, the experiential knowledge of God among the Lord's people had not come to this point. Even as recent as fifty years ago, Christians did not have the understanding of grace as the Triune God experienced and enjoyed by us. But standing on the shoulders of those who have gone before us, we have come to know that grace is far more than merely unmerited favor. Grace is the Triune God—the Father, the Son, and the Spirit—processed for our experience and enjoyment.
