My hope is built on nothing less

1
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
  On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
  All other ground is sinking sand.
2
When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
3
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
4
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
In Him, my righteousness, alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

As Sunday School Superintendent at my childhood church I would often open the morning singing with this song. I awakened this morning with it on my lips and in my heart even though I have long since left that congregation and began obeying the Lord Jesus Christ in full-time ministry. Not only is it an eternal blessing to me but it is full of faith and the word of God. Praise the Lord for this site.

I just went through a trying moment last night but when I played this song this morning, I feel lifted spiritually. What more do I need than Christ the solid ground.

I love this song, it was one of the songs that saw me through the most trying time of my life some years ago... Since then I have always sung the song and have been so much attached to it. Tonight, I have just decided to make the song my personal anthem to be sang daily in my family devotion, and an anthem to start every service in our local parish.
