All my life long I had panted
For a draught from some cool spring,
That I hoped would quench the burning
Of the thirst I felt within.
For a draught from some cool spring,
That I hoped would quench the burning
Of the thirst I felt within.
Hallelujah! I have found Him
Whom my soul so long has craved!
Jesus satisfies my longings;
Through His life I now am saved.
Whom my soul so long has craved!
Jesus satisfies my longings;
Through His life I now am saved.

Feeding on the husks around me,
Till my strength was almost gone,
Longed my soul for something better,
Only still to hunger on.
Till my strength was almost gone,
Longed my soul for something better,
Only still to hunger on.

Poor I was, and sought for riches,
Something that would satisfy,
But the dust I gathered round me
Only mocked my soul’s sad cry.
Something that would satisfy,
But the dust I gathered round me
Only mocked my soul’s sad cry.

Well of water, ever springing,
Bread of life, so rich and free,
Untold wealth that never faileth,
My Redeemer is to me.
Bread of life, so rich and free,
Untold wealth that never faileth,
My Redeemer is to me.

Stanza 4 is a powerful summary of standard 1, 2 and 3. God bless the writer and every heart that has encountered Jesus as Lord and saviour. Even those who are yet to tell this beautiful testimony. “Hallelujah I have found Him. Whom my soul so long has craved.”

This is my testomony and praise to the LORD for his SALVATION ! It describes my whole life untill I found the LORDJESUS CHRIST at the age of 25. Or rather untill He found me a lost sinner. The last line of the chorus should read:
Through his Blood I now am saved. On the Cross He took my death sentence for the wages of sin is death. " But God commendeth his live toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified through his BLOOD , we shall be saved from wrath through Him." Rom. 5:8-11.
Well of water, ever springing,
Bread of life, so rich and free,
Untold wealth that never faileth,
My Redeemer is to me.

I like these songs :)
All my life long I had panted
For a draught from some cool spring,
That I hoped would quench the burning
Of the thirst I felt within.

The line is correct in its context for when the song was written. To take a “draught” as expressed in english at the time was to draw - as to draw water from a spring. It’s not the same as drought, which is of course a lack of water.

Hello, I believe the second line on the first paragraph should read for a "drink" and not for a "draught." The word draught in this case contradicts the message.
God bless you.
