In order to sing this hymn to please God, we must sing it in faith (Hebrews 11 verse 6). This a realised when people repent of their sin and believe the gospel (Mark 1 verse 5, John 3 verse 16, Numbers 21 verse 9, John 3 verse 14).
In doing this, such people are born again as children of God (John 3 verse 3, Romans 8 verses 15 to 17).
