Forgiveness when no blood was shed—
What then of righteousness?
Reproof when blood’s already pled,
Unjustly would oppress.
What then of righteousness?
Reproof when blood’s already pled,
Unjustly would oppress.

O God, no more can You condemn;
Christ’s offering has appeased;
I’m fully free, as far from sin
As west is far from east.
Christ’s offering has appeased;
I’m fully free, as far from sin
As west is far from east.

All the demands of righteousness
My Lord has fully paid;
Now You must fully pardon us;
More judgment can’t be made.
My Lord has fully paid;
Now You must fully pardon us;
More judgment can’t be made.

At first, in love He came, redeemed,
Your righteousness t’appease;
Then righteousness, appeased, required
Sin’s prisoners’ release.
Your righteousness t’appease;
Then righteousness, appeased, required
Sin’s prisoners’ release.

Astounding! At the cross we find
Both love and righteousness!
Love, righteousness, thus intertwined,
We’ll ever sing and bless.
Both love and righteousness!
Love, righteousness, thus intertwined,
We’ll ever sing and bless.

I need to hear these most wonderful words from the old hymns. Thank you so very much for your ministry it is so important to me and so many others across the world. I believe for many even in the US because so many churches don’t use the hymns anymore.
Thank you!
