1
How sweet the Name of Jesus sounds
  In a believer’s ear!
It soothes his sorrow, heals his wounds,
  And drives away his fear,
  And drives away his fear,
  And drives away his fear,
It soothes his sorrow, heals his wounds,
  And drives away his fear.
2
It makes the wounded spirit whole,
  And calms the troubled breast;
’Tis manna to the hungry soul,
  And to the weary rest,
  And to the weary rest,
  And to the weary rest,
’Tis manna to the hungry soul,
  And to the weary rest.
3
Dear Name! the Rock on which we build;
  Our shield and hiding-place;
Our never-failing treasury, filled
  With boundless stores of grace,
  With boundless stores of grace,
  With boundless stores of grace,
Our never-failing treasury, filled
  With boundless stores of grace.
4
Jesus, our Savior, Shepherd, Friend,
  Our Prophet, Priest, and King;
Our Lord, our Life, our Way, our End,
  Accept the praise we bring,
  Accept the praise we bring,
  Accept the praise we bring,
Our Lord, our Life, our Way, our End,
  Accept the praise we bring.
5
Weak is the effort of our heart,
  And cold our warmest thought;
But when we see Thee as Thou art,
  We’ll praise Thee as we ought,
  We’ll praise Thee as we ought,
  We’ll praise Thee as we ought,
But when we see Thee as Thou art,
  We’ll praise Thee as we ought.
6
Till then we would Thy love proclaim
  With every fleeting breath;
And triumph in that blessed Name
  Which quells the pow’r of death,
  Which quells the pow’r of death,
  Which quells the pow’r of death,
And triumph in that blessed Name
  Which quells the pow’r of death.

It is not the name of Jesus that is powerful and sweet, BUT THE LORD JESUS HIMSELF, and it is faith in Him that drives away our fear ( 1 John says perfect love casts out all fear, and God alone has perfect love).

In order to have faith in Jesus and be born again, people must repent and believe the gospel and therefore be saved and born again (Mark 1, Romans 10 verse 9, and John 3 verse 3).

It is possible to go to church, sing hymns and 'pray' YET NOT BE A BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN who is going to Heaven.

We can triumph in that blessed Name! This is a fact! We can triumph over all our situations this week by simply calling on this Name!

Lord make the Words of this song to be our everlasting satisfying portion.

Alternate version:

1. How fragrant, sweet is Jesus' name,

My heavy heart to cheer;

My heart rejoices, lips proclaim

Thy precious name so dear.

Chorus 1:

Most beauteous, wondrous Son of God;

My precious Savior, He

Was born, e'en shed His precious blood

And died to ransom me.

2. He who existed in God's form

As Son of Man did come,

Was emptied, even took slave's form,

That I God's heir become.

3. Jesus is life, enlivening;

Light, truth, and way is He.

He's in my heart, my Lord and King,

To guide and comfort me.

4. Jesus, more dear than treasures rare,

Each moment fills my heart,

Dissolves distress and anxious care,

Draws close to ne'er depart.

5. My Savior soon will come for me,

Take me with Him to be.

I'll be transfigured gloriously

And rest eternally.

Chorus 2:

Jesus! What joy, what glory 'tis:

My glory e'er is He;

The name of glory “Jesus” is& mdash;

I'll praise eternally!
