O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free.
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O’er us sin no more hath dominion
For more than conqu’rors we are!
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O’er us sin no more hath dominion
For more than conqu’rors we are!

His Word shall not fail you, He promised;
Believe Him and all will be well;
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!
Believe Him and all will be well;
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

A very beautiful song. I enjoyed this thoroughly during a blending conference in Atlanta, GA. It was concerning experiencing Christ as our Shepherd. Praise the Lord.

My husband was wrongfully put in jail by my vindictive daughter-in-law.
This song was the one thing that kept me going and it would calm me.
Especially when I would get scared he would go to prison for a very long time.
When I sang it to myself, God would calm my fears.
Everything came out A OKAY with God's help.

At first glance, I would probably consider this hymn to be a bit shallow or short of truth, but lately the Lord has blessed me with some experience of the chorus.
"Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace."
So often, my only focus is on my own situation, my own fears and concerns. I am totally selfish. I even refuse to turn to the Lord. However, this evening, the Lord was bothering me with the words of this chorus. I just need to turn my eyes on Him! What's important is not what is good for me, or what I want. The Lord has a desire. He wants to gain us fully, and this is done practically by our turning to Him. I want Him to be satisfied. Oh, may He keep us focused on Him hour by hour!
