1
The Lord’s my Shepherd, I’ll not want;
He makes me down to lie
In pastures green; He leadeth me
The quiet waters by.
He makes me down to lie
In pastures green; He leadeth me
The quiet waters by.
2
My soul He doth restore again,
And me to walk doth make
Within the paths of righteousness,
E’en for His own name’s sake.
And me to walk doth make
Within the paths of righteousness,
E’en for His own name’s sake.
3
Yea, though I walk in death’s dark vale,
Yet will I fear no ill;
For Thou art with me, and Thy rod
And staff me comfort still.
Yet will I fear no ill;
For Thou art with me, and Thy rod
And staff me comfort still.
4
My table Thou hast furnished
In presence of my foes;
My head Thou dost with oil anoint,
And my cup overflows.
In presence of my foes;
My head Thou dost with oil anoint,
And my cup overflows.
5
Goodness and mercy all my life
Shall surely follow me,
And in God’s house forevermore
My dwelling-place shall be.
Shall surely follow me,
And in God’s house forevermore
My dwelling-place shall be.

The Lord's my shepherd. I have no want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for His Name's sake.

As I read through the comments posted about this hymn that has been a favorite of mine for my entire life, I am able to witness how He is working in the lives of Christians AROUND THE WORLD! How Great is our God! How faithful! How magnificent! How enduring! How unstoppable! Your words have encouraged me today fellow brothers and sisters. We serve a wonderful Savior.

With all that is going on in our world today, plus having a very sick husband to care for, and only the two of us in the house, I broke my heart last night (19th. November) and felt I could not carry on any more, and was trying to think of an easy way to end my life. After I said 'The Lord's Prayer', as I always do, what suddenly came to mind was the hymn, 'The Lord is My Shepherd', but for the life of me, I could not remember all the words, and I was determined to look them up when I got up this morning, which I did, but not only that, as I was trying to memorise the words, a calmness came over me. I stopped crying, and concentrated on my Lord and Saviour. He put that Hymn in my head, and it gave me a lot of thought, that without Him, I would be lost, but, I am not without Him, He is always with me, and thank you for putting this site on the Internet. Oh, I am also nearly 79. May God Bless you ALL.

Psalm 23 is all because of his sacrifice graphically painted in a word picture in psalm 22. This is why we can have the provision, peace, joy, and love which is found only in Christ.
