Living for Jesus a life that is true

1
Living for Jesus a life that is true,
Striving to please Him in all that I do;
Yielding allegiance, glad-hearted and free,
This is the pathway of blessing for me.

O Jesus, Lord and Savior,
I give myself to Thee,
For Thou, in Thy [redemption],*
Didst give Thyself for me;
I own no other Master,
My heart shall be Thy throne,
My life I give, henceforth to live,
O Christ, for Thee alone.
2
Living for Jesus who died in my place,
Bearing on Calv’ry my sin and disgrace;
Such love constrains me to answer His call,
Follow His leading and give Him my all.
3
Living for Jesus wherever I am,
Doing each duty in His holy name;
Willing to suffer affliction and loss,
Deeming each trial a part of my cross.
4
Living for Jesus through earth’s little while,
My dearest treasure, the light of His smile;
Seeking the lost ones He died to redeem,
Bringing the weary to find rest in Him.
The Compilers prefer that
the New Testament word, “redemption,”
be used and sung instead of “atonement.”

A lovely song that presents renewed meaning of the scripture (Romans 12:1-2) to me.

Precious hymn from my youth; Precious Lord Jesus! May I live for Him whole heartedly always and proclaim His name in love.

This hymn came to me in Sunday School this morning. We were studying John 15... I am The Vine, ye are the branches. Living for Jesus and not living for this world is what we should strive for.

I woke up during the night with the tune of this hymn on my mind but couldn't remember all the words. I'm so thankful for this technology. Now I can go back to sleep with a smile. Thank You Jesus. :)

Really appreciate the compilers' efforts in changing "atonement" to "redemption" since the former is scripturally incorrect. Atonement in its original Hebrew form (kaphar) means to cover, which was what the levitical offerings, like the sin offerings, did. The blood of those animals sacrifices merely covered sins, but the blood of Jesus Christ washes away sins completely.

To live, o Christ, for Thee alone!

This is such a precious song which I happened to come across in my Hymnal after prayer today. The song should remain as it was originally written by the song writer. If the word "atonement" was the original text, KEPT IT!

Dear Lord!

I give myself to You OVER and OVER again because I have no other master!

Grant me the grace to live for Thee and Thee alone.

The biggest tool of our enemy is discouragement. But I love the part of this song that we should serve Jesus wherever we are and view all of our sufferings as a part of our duty as Christians (a part of our cross)--but remember....this suffering is nothing compared to what Jesus went through and it is not for long that we will have to suffer.

And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? (Matthew 16:26). So living for Jesus a life is absolutely true. (Praise the Lord always)
