Frances Havergal wrote the lyrics to this hymn. It shows a strong desire to sacrifice her life in every area. I read her biography. Her life was one of consecration. It was not just desire. It was hers life experience. Like Christ her life was a burnt offering. She seemed to put herself on the alter through out her life. What a sweet savor to her God. Now Her experience expressed in this hymn, is an encouragement to us to maintain our consecration.
