Led by grace that love to know;
Spirit, breathing from above,
Thou hast taught me it is so.
Oh, this full and perfect peace!
Oh, this transport all divine!
In a love which cannot cease,
I am His, and He is mine.
Earth around is sweeter green;
Something lives in every hue
Christless eyes have never seen:
Birds with gladder songs o’erflow,
Flow’rs with deeper beauties shine,
Since I know, as now I know,
I am His, and He is mine.
Cannot now disturb my rest;
Closed in everlasting arms,
Pillowed on the loving breast.
Oh, to lie forever here,
Doubt and care and self resign,
While He whispers in my ear,
I am His, and He is mine.
Who the Lord and me shall part?
Ah, with what a rest of bliss
Christ can fill the loving heart.
Heaven and earth may fade and flee,
Firstborn light in gloom decline;
But, while God and I shall be,
I am His, and He is mine.

I really appreciate your site! I am in the process of learning a new hymn a month and this was my first. No one I knew could tell me how it goes and I do not read music (it is all by ear for me) so I really appreciated your site's lyric list and audio!

Our 33 year old daughter has been told that she is at risk for "sudden cardiac death". The LORD is comforting me greatly through His Word and hymns, this being one of them! He brings peace, perspective, and even joy in the midst of our heart wrenching situation.

The atmosphere this hymn conveys is of a loving relationship with Christ, characterised by the most immediate and intimate sentiment and feeling in spirit, with a heart that affords the Lord a way to fully envelop one's being with that precious love and grace that is Himself. The rest here is not occasioned by outward circumstances of rest, but rather despite the "wild alarms", we are in His everlasting arms, enfolded in His rest. Despite creation and all its elements subjected to the slavery of corruption, heaven and earth becomes so pleasing to us when our vision and apprehension is so characterised and saturated by the presence of His endearing love. And most of all, despite the fleeting nature of all things that we currently perceive as established, the Lord's love brings us in absolute, eternal and unchanging union with Him. Most of all we know in this progressively deep loving union with the Lord: "I am His and He is mine".

I rather like this. In the text there does not seem to be a refrain as there is in the music. The music is full of romantic chromatacism which I rather like. I think that it is simply super that on this site it is possible to download the music too. Well done hymnal.net!
