Recall how David swore

1
Recall how David swore,
“I’ll not come into my house,
Nor go up to my bed,
Give slumber to mine eyelids,
Until I find a place for Thee,
A place, O Lord, for Thee.”
Our mighty God desires a home
Where all His own may come.
2
How blinded we have been,
Shut in with what concerns us;
While God’s house lieth waste—
Lord, break through, overturn us;
We’ll go up to the mountain,
Bring wood and build the house;
We’ll never say, “Another day!”
It’s time! We’ll come and build!
3
O Lord, against these days,
Inspire some for Your building,
Just as in David’s day—
A remnant who are willing
To come and work in Your house,
Oh, what a blessed charge!
Your heart’s desire, is our desire—
We come, O Lord, to build.
4
Within those whom You’d call
Put such a restless caring
For building to give all—
These times are for preparing;
The gates of hell cannot prevail
Against the builded Church!
The hours are few, the builders too—
Lord, build, O build in us!
(Repeat the last four lines)

Hallelujah...

I attended the "tour of a lifetime conference" held at baguio City Philippines. This hymn touched me so much deep within...

This consecration song, led me to my deepest part of being and when we sung this many of us cried. there is a life flowing when we had this hymn.

As in the hymn we are for God's building, we need to build His house. Build His house with us as He is our precious material. May most of us be touched to be inspired for His building.

We are no longer blind and we are redeemed by God and He will put a restless caring in us.... May our Lord grant us the light to build up His House. Amen.

Because this is a song that touches the heart and conscience. The words speak of seeking a vision with utter and complete surrendered consecration to the Lord Jesus. It is a summary of the whole Bible from beginning to end. From Genesis to Revelation, God has desired to have a building dwelling place with man. Where am I with the Lord and how much do I really see of His goal? The lyrics are more than beautiful; as is our Saviour. Every true believer should have and experience in reality the words to this hymn. I sing this hymn over and over again to the Lord. It brings sweet tears to my eyes. How wonderful and marvelous that we, mere fragile humans, can satisfy the heart of God as David did.

One night, while fellowshipping with some brothers late at night, we sang this song to the Lord. It touched me so deeply that, so often, I'm blinded, shut in with what concerns me while God's house lieth waste. The Lord spoke in those lyrics to me that my life is truly not my own to live, but His. I have a very long way to go, but I know that the Lord is there, constantly breaking through and overturning me in His own time according to His economy. Praise the Lord!

I like this song because this has touched me so much. This song made me offer my self to serve the Lord. May every saint see God's need today and answer the Lord's call.

This song tells us about the need for God's house.

Whether or not the new way will be successful ultimately depends on everyone prophesying. If the practice of everyone prophesying cannot be successfully carried out, we will fall back to the old way of one man speaking. It is very easy for one person to speak, but it is much more difficult for everyone to prophesy in a district meeting; it is hard for the speakers as well as the listeners. Many times we have an experience of hearing a speaking that points directly to our situation and exposes us in the light even though our name is never mentioned. The goal of the new way is for everyone to be on an "operating table," letting the Lord as the great Physician operate on us. As a result, our condition will improve, and God will gain a dwelling place. This is the built-up church, which the enemy fears: "The gates of hell cannot prevail / Against the builded church!" (Hymns, #1248).
