I love to tell the story

1
I love to tell the story
  Of unseen things above,
Of Jesus and His glory,
  Of Jesus and His love.
I love to tell the story,
  Because I know ’tis true;
It satisfies my longings
  As nothing else can do.

I love to tell the story,
’Twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old, old story
  of Jesus and His love.
2
I love to tell the story;
  More wonderful it seems
Than all the golden fancies
  Of all my golden dreams,
I love to tell the story,
  It did so much for me;
And that is just the reason
  I tell it now to thee.
3
I love to tell the story;
  ’Tis pleasant to repeat
What seems each time I tell it,
  More wonderfully sweet.
I love to tell the story;
  For some have never heard
The message of salvation
  From God’s own holy Word.
4
I love to tell the story;
  For those who know it best
Seem hungering and thirsting
  To hear it like the rest.
And when, in scenes of glory,
  I sing the new, new song,
’Twill be the old, old story,
  That I have loved so long.

This is my boyfriend's favourite song. I love it too.

Jeanie Porter Dean

I do love this old hymn. I once knew an old married couple who were so full of the holy spirit that they would tell others the old story no matter where they were located at the time. My dad came out of the grocery store one time and I saw that he’d been crying. He had a bright smile on his face. Apparently, old Brother Eidson had been in the store and they had begun sharing what Jesus had done for them during their walk on this earth and both had rejoiced in the Lord there, in the store because, as the song implies they loved sharing the old story with each other, for it fed them and quenched their thirst to hear it all again. It never grows old, does it? I can never hear it enough...

Typical of what is enjoying at the Apostolic Faith Church. Such an inspiring song to build faith and reverence to God.

This hymn would be perfect for a introduction to a sermon. It creates an atmosphere of expectation and reverence for God. But despite that it’s a great hymn Niall respects. It is a call for all of us to tell the story.

The story brings me back to reflection on how the saints of old walked with the Lord and I thanked and bless God for using two wonderful brothers in the Lord to sing it n each time I heard it I began to talk to God in prayers to help walk with him in Holiness, Righteousness and purity of heart, I heard it when I was still a kid but I never understood what it meant but thank God am grown n am still holding to this story of word, it's a great privilege and opportunity God has granted into me and by His grace He has so much showed me mercy to be alive.

This song touched my heart and I had it sung in church on old year's night 2018.
