As the world rushes on

1
As the world rushes on,
I'm reminded of Thee.
Though time passes away,
There's eternity in me.

Now nothing 'neath the sun,
But Thou and Thou alone,
Can satisfy my heart.
Things temp'ral will not do;
I'd things above pursue;
Eternal One, Thou art.
2
Priceless 'tis, now I see,
To spend time seeking Thee.
Time is precious to me,
Limited in quantity.

Lord, I just want to spend
My time with only Thee,
For Thou art worthy Lord.
I'd every moment seize,
Not one spent without Thee,
But with my love, my Lord.
3
How can I spend my time
That it'd be valuable,
Thousand-fold multiplied,
Ever our memorial?

I'd rather spend a day,
With Thee and with Thy saints,
Than thousand days away.
One thing, that do I seek,
To dwell within Thy house
Beholding Thee always.
4
New beginning I ask.
All my heart, capture more;
All my time, spent with Thee;
All my days, on Thee outpoured.

The time, may I redeem,
From many wasted days,
From wand'ring aimlessly.
More time I cannot waste;
Thou long didst wait for me,
To turn my being to Thee.

Lord, I don't want to waste any more of my time, I want to redeem it, multiply it a thousandfold for You. Thank You for waiting patiently for me all this time, I cannot but respond to Your love, so I want to pour out my life completely to You.

Loving the Lord and spending time with the Lord go hand in hand. Lord how can I say I love you when I do not make time for you?

I've been musing over this verse for a while and was so touched by this footnote:

James 2:5

Listen, my beloved brothers: Did not God choose the poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which He promised to those who love Him?

James2:5, note 3e

We believe in the Lord for our salvation (Acts 16:31); we love God (1 John 2:5, 15) for our overcoming, that we may receive the promised kingdom as a reward (see note Heb.  12:281a and note Heb.  10:351b).

As I read this I just felt compelled to say Lord I want to be with you. Forgive me for not spending time with you as I should.

Keep reminding me of You.

You are the only One who fully satisfies my heart.

Show me how valuable, how worthy Thou art.

Turn my entire being completely to Thee.

I’d every moment seize,

...

What limited time we have today. May we spend each precious moment with Thee.

We've been drawn off by so many things, wandering aimlessly, yet the deep sense of purpose in our heart is not satisfied. Lord, we don't want to waste our time. Revive us, attract us, grant us a new beginning!

Such a lovely hymn to sing to the Lord in our personal times with Him. I just learned it today and it's so timely. While learning this hymn I realized that I have spent so little time with Him now that I entered grad school than before. I'm reminded that time spent with Him and the saints is an eternal memorial. I truly miss the meetings, the supply I get from the other saints' sharing, and the joy of bringing someone to Him. However, I get too preoccupied by work, study and other personal things. And so I just pray that may the Lord be gracious to me and to other saints struggling with their time as well to learn to be wise and be normal with our church life again. I still love Him and His church.
