Lord, make me to know mine end

NS280
1
Lord, make me to know mine end,
And the measure of my days, what it is,
That I may know how frail I am,
How frail I am.
2
Behold, Thou hast made my days as an handbreadth;
And mine age is as nothing before Thee;
Verily every man at his best state,
Is altogether vanity. Selah.
3
Surely every man walketh in a vain show;
Surely they are disquieted in vain;
He heapeth up riches, and knoweth not
Who shall gather them.
4
And now, Lord, what wait I for?
My hope is in Thee.
Now Lord, what wait I for?
My hope is in Thee.
My hope is in Thee.
(repeat stanzas 3 and 4)

Hazme saber Jehová mi fin

Y cuanta la medida de mis dias

Sepa yo cuan fragil soy, cuan fragil soy.

He aqui diste a mis dias termino corto,

Y mi edad es como nada delante de Ti

Ciertamente es vanidad todo hombre que vive.

Ciertamente como sombra es el hombre

Ciertamente en vano se afana

Amontona riquezas y no sabe

Quien las recogerá.

Y ahora Señor que esperaré,

Mi esperanza esta en Ti

Mi esperanza esta en Ti

Y ahora Señor que esperaré

Mi esperanza esta en Ti

By explicitly stating that our life is nothing but a "vain show"... made me realise how truly short our days are and how frail man is. It's easy to get caught up in the whirl of "daily life", busying our days past without noticing how stupefied I already am. This hymn reminds me again that nothing in my life and on this earth is important apart from the Lord. Everything will just be a vain show. May I learn how to take advantage of every moment and opportunity to gain the eternal, real One.

Our hope is in Thee!

Amen. O Jehovah, cause me to know my end, And the measure of my days, what it is. May I know how transient I am.

Lord, teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom. I enjoy this song! It reminds me of how fleeting our days are...

Thanks hymnal.net, I learned this hymn when I was grade school. This is one of our theme songs with the Lord.
