"Must I go, and empty-handed,"
Thus my dear Redeemer meet?
Not one day of service give Him,
Lay no trophy at His feet?
"Must I go, and empty-handed?"
Must I meet my Savior so?
Not one soul with which to greet Him:
Must I empty-handed go?
2
Not at death I shrink nor falter,
For my Savior saves me now;
But to meet Him empty-handed,
Thought of that now clouds my brow.
"Must I go, and empty-handed?"
Must I meet my Savior so?
Not one soul with which to greet Him:
Must I empty-handed go?
3
O the years in sinning wasted;
Could I but recall them now,
I would give them to my Savior,
To His will I'd gladly bow.
"Must I go, and empty-handed?"
Must I meet my Savior so?
Not one soul with which to greet Him:
Must I empty-handed go?
4
O ye saints, arouse, be earnest,
Up and work while yet 'tis day;
Ere the night of death o'ertake thee,
Strive for souls while still you may.
"Must I go, and empty-handed?"
Must I meet my Savior so?
Not one soul with which to greet Him:
Must I empty-handed go?

This hymn has inspired my soul to preach the gospel of Christ to unbelievers before my final moment so that I will not go empty hand as well.

Ed Gray wrote an acronym on TALENTS. He says; Tools, Ability/Anointing, Love & Everything Needed To Succeed. Truly, everything has been given (made available) to every Christian to succeed (Eph. 1:3), and this success is neither measured in the amount of wealth we grabbed, not in the number of houses we erected on this terrestial plain, not in .... The success is only measured in the number of lives we affected and SOULS in our hand to present before the Great King.

This truth must always be told especially in our ever busy world today were everybody claims to be too busy with making ends meet, that they have little or no time for soul winning. Our God accepts no excuse for failure to come with souls when u will approach His presence.

In short, this hymn not just inspires my soul, also open my spiritual eyes to see the urgency of preaching the gospel of Christ. It is a challenging question to every Christian to see how many opportunity we miss every day. How I pray that God should increase the passion for the perishing soul in our heart untill we see Him face to face. In Jesus name, Amen.

I Bless Your Holy Oh Lord. This music inspires my soul more than anything. I pray that the Spirit the faithful guide leads in the right path all my life. May I never go an empty-handed to meet my Creator. Bless The Perfect God We Serve...Amen.

In Alexander's Revival Hymns (No 53) there is a note to the following effect: "After a month of Christian life, nearly all of it passed upon a sick bed, a young man, nearly 30 years of age, lay dying. Suddenly a look of sadness crossed his face, and to the query of a friend he exclaimed: "No, I am not afraid; Jesus saves me now! But Oh must I go - and empty handed?"
I wonder how many lives have been touched by this hymn, so that he did not in fact go into the presence of Jesus empty handed.

What a great hymn. It is awake up call for all Christians to appreciate why we are here on earth - To make disciple of all nations. Praise God.

Must I go, and empty handed? No doubt this is a challenging question for every Christian. It is my prayer that as we strive to make it to Heaven, we would go with our boxes filled with souls for the Lord!

I feel like hearing this hymn again and again and again, telling me only one thing that I have duty to do for my Saviour. Praise the Lord.

I am comforted in this hymn to realize that in all our Christian living as children, begotten of God in His life, only one thing is needful-our begetting many more to become sons of God through the preaching of the genuine gospel. I am comforted that not many things the Lord requires of us, but this He does, that we preach the gospel and bear many fruits and that our fruit should remain, even until He comes. This releases us from all the world offers to us. May the Lord grant us grace to enjoy Him and be released from the world and all its distractions to focus on the main thing-bearing much fruit. Amen.
