A mighty Fortress is our God,
A Bulwark never failing;
Our Helper He amid the flood
Of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe
Doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great,
And, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.
A Bulwark never failing;
Our Helper He amid the flood
Of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe
Doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great,
And, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.

Did we in our own strength confide,
Our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side,
The Man of God's own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth His Name,
From age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.
Our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side,
The Man of God's own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth His Name,
From age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.

And though this world, with devils filled,
Should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed
His truth to triumph through us:
The Prince of Darkness grim,
We tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure,
For lo! his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.
Should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed
His truth to triumph through us:
The Prince of Darkness grim,
We tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure,
For lo! his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.

That word above all earthly powers,
No thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours
Through Him who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go,
This mortal life also;
The body they may kill:
God's truth abideth still,
His Kingdom is forever.
No thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours
Through Him who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go,
This mortal life also;
The body they may kill:
God's truth abideth still,
His Kingdom is forever.

I have not sung this hymn since I was a student in the seventies, but came across it again this morning through my daily Bible reading and study. Wow! Truths, unchanged from the dawn of time, that will echo down through eternity!

I sought the Lord and he heard my cry and delivered me from all my fears. I heard from a Pastor who was at Pat Robertson’s Memorial service that this song was sung and wanted to sing it to remember having loved this song. Pleasantly surprised to find the words and the music to help me sing along this blessed morning.

I love it, I just love it, singing hymns to my Lord and My God Jesus Christ forever and forever, I love to sing His praise, I love to praise Him, I love to praise His name, He's my rock, my rock my sword and shield. He's got wheels in the middle of a wheel, He's just a jewes that I have found, O! HALLELUJAH! HALLELUJAH! Hallelujah! I love to praise His name, O Jesus! I love to praise your Holy name! 🎵🎼🎵🔥🙏🎵🎼🔥😊🎵🎵

I have great peace when I listen to this hymn. While the enemy may think that he has a foothold in the hearts of Christian’s everywhere there is one name that he fears: the name and the blood of Jesus our Lord.
Awesome!

I had never sang this hymn. But when we were given it to us for the festival, the tune was so amazing. Since then I have listened and sung through it on a daily. I have explored most of the he versions. This hymn is sweet. Thx.

I had this hymn in my phone for about 2 years and never sang it with the lyrics but did that today. I played it the sound and followed with the lyrics here. I did it for 4 times. Very good hymn and shows the sovereignty of God and His protection over His children. God bless you!
