What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He'll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He'll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.

This is a song that the spirit placed on my heart the moment I enter the office. I did not know the words of the song but all I could get is the sound of it. I started searching the song from YouTube, but to my surprise I typed in the correct words "WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS". I started listening to it all over.
I have no history about the song, but I understand that the Lord wanted me to listen to this song.
I had these last 3 months suffering financially and all I could depend upon was the grace of God. WHAT A PRIVILEGE. To God be the glory.

Just when I thought I had no true friends, this song popped into my head & made my day!!! Thank You Jesus!!! I am so grateful for my late Grandmother, Arizona & my late Mother, Laura, who took me to church where I learned this precious song!

This song is a conviction that God answers prayers. If there is a man that prays there's a God that answers. Nothing is too difficult for God, our God is bigger than every mountains.

Even in the storm you can be sure that the Lord will uphold you. Just take your fears to the Lord in prayer. He will calm every storm. Thank You Jesus for not letting me drown.

I am supposed to be traveling next weekend for a women's conference in DRC. I don't have all the money needed so I have been praying.
A few minutes ago, I remembered and started singing "what a privilege to carry, everything to God in prayer".
Hallelujah. I am flooded with peace now.
I know God has provided.

Saviour, master and friend, what a friend we have in you. I was so lost until this morning my daily devotional online with Pastor Dave of Time of Grace Ministry drew me right back to where I should be. Down on my knees. He told the story of the gracious author of this healing song. Father I know I am not deserving of Your love but still You love me. Thank You.

My late father's favourite song, can't hold crying any time I listen to this hymn. It brings me more closer to my Creator. May the soul of my late father and the souls of the departed rest in peace. Amen....

I was recently working on my truck when the jack slipped out and the truck came down on me, crushing the life out of me. While this wasn’t the hymn I was singing while under there it has certainly been a favorite of mine. I’m thankful for the suffering our precious Savior went through and so now when we go through suffering also we know we will find a ‘solace there.’
