What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He'll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He'll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.

Woke up this morning very burdened... while I made my husbands lunch at 5:30 the sun was coming up and I had a few of these lyrics go through my head but couldn't remember how the song started. I looked up and found these words and all of these awesome comments... I have never commented on a single thing on line but I was so encouraged that the same God that spoke through this song to me this morning, spoke to people across the world as well.. what an awesome, perfect, loving and caring Friend. My best Friend... I am humbled and actually prayed for some of you that commented. Thank you for sharing your faith and walk. Thank You Jesus that You are such a Friend and miraculous Healer.

This song always challenges me to bring everything to God in prayer, everything because of his love care and concern for each of us. It also reminds me of God's unconditional and everlasting love. Hallelujah.

Thos song came to me in prayer tonight. It was a song my nana taught me to play on the organ. It brought back such great memories and made me feel loved and hugged by Jesus. I needed that right now. Thank you Jesus for that better feeling 🙏
So sweet I love it so much

I remember singing this hymn growing up in church. It's only when you go through hardship as an adult that those words becoming real and meaningful. May we always sing what we practice, and practice what we sing!
