Day by day, and with each passing moment

1
Day by day, and with each passing moment,
Strength I find to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father's wise bestowment,
I've no cause for worry or for fear.
He, whose heart is kind beyond all measure,
Gives unto each day what He deems best,
Lovingly its part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and rest.
2
Every day the Lord Himself is near me,
With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear and cheer me,
He whose name is Counsellor and Pow'r.
The protection of His child and treasure
Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
"As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,"
This the pledge to me He made.
3
Help me then, in every tribulation,
So to trust Thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith's sweet consolation,
Offered me within Thy holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
E'er to take, as from a father's hand,
One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
Till with Christ the Lord I stand.

This is such a beautiful hymn and the prayer of my heart today. I thought of my parents' memorial service last year and wept as I listened to this. Thank You Jesus for Your love for us and giving us the faith to carry on.

I recently had a leg amputated with months in the hospital, rehab and now home rehab. While on the exercise machines, I thought of the words of this song over and over (along with "My Faith Has Found a Resting Place" and verses from the first chapter of James).

As a testimony to God's grace, He has kept me and my family from anger, bitterness, depression, envy of others or confusion. Knowing that "the protection of His child and treasure is a charge that on Himself He laid" got me through many lonely times, but never has He let my faith waver (for His glory). "Day by Day" is such a well-worded and solidly biblical expression that I have sung for years, but now means more to me now more than ever.

My little sister called today and shared this song with me. I have been ill for over 11 years and getting weaker. I have been broken a couple of times over these years. I have found out of weakness. He is my strength. The words that Lina wrote are so true and she could have only known them as truth... by the life of God's Son in her through the Holy Spirit. To trust our Lord's promises. We see His kindness, love, mercy and nearness to us. I love what she says about, "All my cares He wants to bear to cheer me." She could not have found what she did in Christ, during the death of her Dad, apart from God's revealing love, grace and kindness for her. It is encouraging to know what we are like apart from God's grace. Because then; He is the One who gets the glory because we know it's not of us. This will be a favorite song for me now.

This Song was my Mother's favorite. When she left Sweden to India as a Missionary and later she adopted 16 children: 9 boys and 7 girls she Became God's Gift of Mother to all of us. She has gone Home to be with Jesus. I'am Thankful to God for Giving us the Best Mother and Best Missionary to India. Thank You Lord Jesus. Please pray for me and I won't be alone. This song was my Mother's song. I love You Jesus.

As I was praying for a friend whose sister was diagnosed with cancer and given only weeks to live, The Holy Spirit brought this song to mind to share with them and pray it for them. I am so grateful to our Lord and Savior, and our Heavenly Father.

There's a Great Songs of Faith Devotion by Robert Brown & Mark Norton ISBN1-4143-0699-7 which tells the stories behing the hymns (Iread then come to this site to listen. Carolina Sandall witnessed her Pastor father as the ship lurched and he fell overboard during a voyage in Sweden. They were unable to rescue him in time and she lost someone very close to her. She wrote many hymns and persisted through trials in faith.

The Lord put this song on my heart yesterday. I've known it for many years, and have found much comfort from it. However, sometimes we forget about some of the old hymns, with today's modern worship music. With two prodigal children and many needs within our life group, the timing was perfect. All I could do was bawl, as I sang out before the Lord this morning. Our God is good and doeth good.

The Bible says He will give us songs in the night. This song was given to me in the early hours this morning. I came to this site to check out all the words. What a blessing they give as my daughter is battling breast cancer.

Oh how I wish we we were still singing these old hymns in the church today. It is increasingly hard to find a church that will sing the 'oldies' the way they were originally written. I've learned to sing How Great Thou Art in a totally new tempo and it still brings tears to my eyes. I heard a comment about the choruses we sing today. They are 7/11 hymns; seven words sung eleven times.

I love piano. I am a great grandmother with a total of one year worth of piano lessons. I love this tune. I wish someone would let me know where to send away for this sheet music, and the cost. I would be glad to send the money, you could send the paid (in advance) sheet music. Either way, please let me know?
