1
All the way my Savior leads me;
What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His tender mercy,
Who through life has been my Guide?
Heav'nly peace, divinest comfort,
Here by faith in Him to dwell!
For I know, whate'er befall me,
  Jesus doeth all things well,
For I know, whate'er befall me,
  Jesus doeth all things well.
2
All the way my Savior leads me,
Cheers each winding path I tread,
Gives me grace for every trial,
Feeds me with the living bread.
Though my weary steps may falter,
And my soul athirst may be,
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! a spring of joy I see,
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! a spring of joy I see.
3
All the way my Savior leads me;
Oh, the fullness of His grace!
Perfect rest to me is promised
  In my Father's blest embrace.
When my spirit, clothed immortal,
Wings its flight to realms of day,
This my song through endless ages:
Jesus led me all the way,
This my song through endless ages:
Jesus led me all the way.

This beloved gospel hymn was the expression of gratitude to God after a direct answer to prayer. It is reported that one day Fanny Crosby desperately needed five dollars and did not know where she could get this amount. She began to pray and within a few minutes a stranger appeared at the door with five dollars. “I have no way of accounting for this, except to believe that God, in answer to my prayer, put it in the heart of this good man to bring the money. My first thought, it is so wonderful the way the Lord leads me. I immediately wrote the poem and Mr. Lowry set it to music.” The hymn first appeared in a Sunday school collection ‘Brightest and Best’ compiled by William H. Doane and Robert Lowry in 1875.

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord; And He delights In his way. ” Psalm 37:23.

Of late I am feeling anxious waiting for a decision from the medical community about my kidney transplant admission or rejection. At first, I pray earnestly as if forcing God to give me an affirmative answer. This hymn gave me the relief and the answer. And that if, "forever befall me Jesus doeth all things well". I do not need to worry anymore. If it is God's Will Hee will give me that transplanted kidney. In other words, God's Will will prevail either way.

Amen and Amen

Thanks for posting this comforting song. God reminded me of this song just tonight. Been feeling weary lately. Going through tough times with a dear friend and dear cousin dying unexpectedly in the last couple of weeks. Found out last week that another friend is dying from brain cancer plus dealing with a prodigal daughter.

I thank God for giving me grace for every trial. For I know whatever befall me, Jesus doeth all things well.

Almost a year ago I was pleading with God to show me He is working in my life. I prayed super hard one morning to show me a sign. I specifically prayed to see the number 375. Within 2 hours we were at church, and we sang from the hymnal. We never do this anymore. The third and final hymn called out from a hymnal of 650 hymns was 375, this particular hymn. It was called out load, and on a screen, and in the hymnal, 375 within 2 hours of my asking. God is good.

It is now 3. 55 am and having not been able to sleep I took some time to talk to the Lord. Have not done this for a long time. I was comforted when finished and this song came to me - gives me grace for every trial - oh thank God for GRACE - when all seems lost, there is still HOPE.

Woke up shortly after 5 this morning, and as I came downstairs to pray so I wouldn't wake my wife up, the phrase "Jesus doeth all things well" began to echo in my mind. It's been many years since I've sung this hymn. But how true it is, He does everything with eccellence, even when we don't always see that in the moment. What a wonderful Lord! Have Your way in every heartbeat, every aspect of my life!

I was awakened in the wee hours this Sunday morning with the precious words and music of the last two lines of this wonderful song being repeated over and over in my mind and spirit. I arose, was led to my computer and found these words and music, with comments left by others from around the world. Truly, this our song thru endless ages, Jesus led us all the way.

I have bee waking up with the first two lines singing in my ears just like so many of you. I was moved this morning in reading the comments, and considered how our Savior cares for each of us around the world. My daughter is currently hiking the Pacific Crest Trail along the west coast of the USA (around 2, 500 miles). She is over half way, having hiked through the High Sierras through a record snow year. Mark and I are constantly praying for her! This hymn's imagery of the journey matches so well the weary walking and thirst she faces. Also, at the same time as I have been waking with this hymn, I have been meditating on Jeremiah 9:24: "Those who wish to boast should boast about this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I AM THE LORD who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things. I, the Lord, have spoken."
