How sweet the Name of Jesus sounds
  In a believer's ear!
It soothes his sorrow, heals his wounds,
  And drives away his fear,
  And drives away his fear,
  And drives away his fear,
It soothes his sorrow, heals his wounds,
  And drives away his fear.
2
It makes the wounded spirit whole,
  And calms the troubled breast;
'Tis manna to the hungry soul,
  And to the weary rest,
  And to the weary rest,
  And to the weary rest,
'Tis manna to the hungry soul,
  And to the weary rest.

Dear Name! the Rock on which we build;
  Our shield and hiding-place;
Our never-failing treasury, filled
  With boundless stores of grace,
  With boundless stores of grace,
  With boundless stores of grace,
Our never-failing treasury, filled
  With boundless stores of grace.
4
Jesus, our Savior, Shepherd, Friend,
  Our Prophet, Priest, and King;
Our Lord, our Life, our Way, our End,
  Accept the praise we bring,
  Accept the praise we bring,
  Accept the praise we bring,
Our Lord, our Life, our Way, our End,
  Accept the praise we bring.
5
Weak is the effort of our heart,
  And cold our warmest thought;
But when we see Thee as Thou art,
  We'll praise Thee as we ought,
  We'll praise Thee as we ought,
  We'll praise Thee as we ought,
But when we see Thee as Thou art,
  We'll praise Thee as we ought.
6
Till then we would Thy love proclaim
  With every fleeting breath;
And triumph in that blessed Name
  Which quells the pow'r of death,
  Which quells the pow'r of death,
  Which quells the pow'r of death,
And triumph in that blessed Name
  Which quells the pow'r of death.

This song is great.

The Bible says the name of the Lord is a strong tower the righteous runs into it and he is saved.

He soothes our sorrows and heals our wound and drives away our fear.

God compelled me this morning to search this hymn and sing it during my personal time with Him, and surely every time I sing this song my crushed spirit is made whole. Psalm 51; The Lord delights in a broken Heart and contrite Spirit.

Truly the name of Jesus Christ is sweet in every believer's ears. It's the name above every others. God exalted Jesus Christ for His obedience in dying to redeem mankind. Think through it. He who was sinless, in fact God, decided to be 'sin' so that mankind can qualify for righteousness. This is a mystery. Having done this without complaining, God, the Father, gave Him a name above every other names. Consequently, at the mention of the name, Jesus Christ, every knees Bow, every tongues confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, in heaven, earth and beneath the earth. This is awesome. This is the confident assurance every believer has. And it's why we can boldly come to the throne of grace and be assured of mercy and answers to our prayers. Isn't God faithful and merciful?

And drives away his fear,

And drives away his fear,

It soothes his sorrow, heals his wounds,

And drives away his fear.

Most beauteous, wondrous Son of God;

My precious Savior, He

Was born, e'en shed His precious blood

And died to ransom me.

As Son of Man did come,

Was emptied, even took slave's form,

That I God's heir become.

To guide and comfort me.

And rest eternally.
