Leaning on the Everlasting Arms

1
What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
  Leaning on the Everlasting Arms!
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
  Leaning on the Everlasting Arms!
  Leaning, leaning,
Safe and secure from all alarms;
  Leaning, leaning,
  Leaning on the Everlasting Arms.
2
O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way,
  Leaning on the Everlasting Arms!
O how bright the path grows from day to day,
  Leaning on the Everlasting Arms!
3
What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
  Leaning on the Everlasting Arms!
I have peace complete with my Lord so near,
  Leaning on the Everlasting Arms!

I talked to an unbeliever once and he said religion is a crutch for weak people. Now I can say amen to that. Leaning on the Lord is wonderful. It is putting our trust in Him. I did lean on my own strength for a long time. Now that strength can’t help me. It is God that dealt with my pride and showed me how dependent I am on Him. Oh how bright the path grows each day leaning on His everlasting arms!

That is my favorite gospel song of everything it's just so wonderful especially at the end of true grit when she sings it and walking away wow when my dad passed away in 1998 I thought I was talking to him on the phone and I didn't realize it but my son said there was a lot of lights on in the house when he was in bed my dad said he wanted to show me what heaven look like so he had me look out the window of the door of a house because my mom wasn't sure if he was there or not she just didn't when someone dies they mourn that way and he wanted me to tell her and there were two suns one in the East and one in the West and I can see all around me without even turning isn't he great God bless all of you

"I have complete peace with my Lord so near"

It’s such an assurance that we can experience joy and peace with the Lord near to us. There are moments when we feel burdened and weary, but having the Everlasting Arms to lean on brings joy and peace. Just lean on this Everlasting Arms.

My twin sister is hospitalized in another with a neurodegenerative disease. I just off the phone with her. She and I have sung together all our lives and lived pretty independently. Now she must rely on others and we are very optimistic that she will be able to be discharged to her home within the next 2 weeks. During our phone call, I sang Leaning on the Everlasting Arms to her and then we prayed together. It was a special moment. God bless all of you. Whatever you are going through wherever you are, lean on the everlasting arms and let God embrace with love and give you peace. TGBT. Amen.

God is drawing me back in after a season of wandering and straying … been feeling like I’ve been in a cloud of sin lately, but this hymn (listened to a cover by Jess Ray today) has uplifted me and yet humbled me at the same time. I can’t do it alone, Jesus. I need Your sweet embrace. Thank you for sending me this song.

I was reading my devotion this morning from Streams in the desert, and it talked about trusting God. It said, “Trust sees and feels, and leans upon a person, a great, true, living heart of love. ”

And this song came to mind, “what have I to fear, what have I to dread, leaning on the everlasting arms. “

The Lord just touched my heart and surrounded me with his heart of love and everlasting arms. What a wonderful heavenly father we have, nearer than we realize.
