I'm pressing on the upward way,
New heights I'm gaining every day;
Still praying as I onward bound,
"Lord, plant my feet on higher ground."
Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan's tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
2
My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where these abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.
Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan's tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
3
I want to live above the world,
Though Satan's darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.
Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan's tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
4
I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I'll pray till rest I've found,
"Lord, lead me on to higher ground."
Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan's tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

I woke up this morning with this song in my dream. I know the Lord Almighty has destroyed all my enemies.
So, am going on a higher ground, am onward bound, attaining new heights everyday. The powers of darkness can no longer STOP ME. THANK YOU JESUS.

I shall rise above all my existential challenges in 2024 and beyond, and the glory of God will manifest in me because I am pressing on the upward way.

In the early 1900s, Charles H. Gabriel (1856-1932) was considered the “king of gospel music. ” He wrote the words and music for many of the hymns used by evangelist of his day, such as Billy Sunday. Charles’ hymns reflected a change in gospel music. In the 1800s hymns were more theological and meditative. But with the revivals of D. L. Moody and Billy Sunday, Christians learned to love songs that were sweet and inspirational. Charles is credited with writing between 7000 to 8000 songs. He wrote tunes for other songs as well, including “His Eye is on the Sparrow” “Will the Circle be Unbroken? ”
Charles Gabriel was born in Iowa and raised on a farm. He taught himself to play on his family’s reed organ without ever having any formal music training. Gabriel focused his attention on the One who had gifted him musically, not on himself as composer and songwriter. Gabriel began emerging from his own struggles – including his father‘s death when he was a teenager, and a failed marriage – to recognizing the Lord was sovereignly working in all aspects of his life. His mother challenged him to make a habit of scribbling down his own words and music after finishing his farm work each day.
Her response to her son’s desire for fame was, “I would rather have you write a song that will help somebody than to see you become president of the United States. ” Her hopes for Charles became a reality as he was known for being the “master of missionary music. “ Gabriel lead worship for Billy Sunday and encouraged listeners to hear the “Macedonian Call” (The Apostle Paul’s second missionary journey) and to send the light around the world. One common thread throughout many of Gabriel‘s lyrics is the high honor and sense of indebtedness to spread the gospel.
