I'm pressing on the upward way

1
I'm pressing on the upward way,
New heights I'm gaining every day;
Still praying as I onward bound,
"Lord, plant my feet on higher ground."
  Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan's tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
  Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
2
My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where these abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.
3
I want to live above the world,
Though Satan's darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.
4
I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I'll pray till rest I've found,
"Lord, lead me on to higher ground."

Oh Lord! This would be our prayer as we go about in our daily life as college students on campus or working saints in the work place. Our hearts do not desire to be where doubts, anxieties and fears remain. Our heart desires to be completely out from Egypt, above the wilderness and west of the Jordan in Canaan's Table Land where we harvest the All Inclusive Christ!

God does speak to us through spiritual hymns. Once again He calls us to deeper worship and glory walk.

Praise the Lord! This is the hymn I needed! These past few days I was wallowing in the mud, my soul was in turmoil, and I felt like my spirit just couldn’t break through. The night before, I happened to read Luke 15:18-24 and was so encouraged by the words of the prodigal son: “I will rise up and go to my father... ” but was still struggling to rise up and felt so stuck. Hallelujah this morning the Lord was the divine calamus to me! He has lifted me up out of all my feelings and frustrations! “My heart has no desire to stay where doubts arise and fears dismay... my prayer, my aim, is higher ground! ”

what a beautiful song

To be in the spirit is the key, the secret. In the spirit we will experience many wonderful things of Christ because we have crossed the Jordan and entered into Canaan. When we are in the spirit, we are in the rest, and we are in the Holy of Holies. Therefore, we must always renounce the natural man, the outer man. For example, many times in the Lord's work I was tempted by the enemy to quarrel with others. On those occasions I felt that my reason was right, that the case was mine, and that I had the doctrine to support me. Yet while I was trying to speak, something deep within restricted me and stopped me. In order to go along with that deep feeling, I had to drop my quarreling. Consequently, it seemed that I had nothing to say. But I can testify that every time I went along with the spirit, there was victory. If we take care of our spirit, the mighty One in our spirit will be our strength. We will be transcendent and victorious over many things. When we come to the meetings, we will come with many items of Christ to contribute, either in prayer, singing, giving a testimony, or speaking a short word. Philippians 4:13 says, "I am able to do all things in Him who empowers me." But where does Christ empower us? He empowers us in our spirit. Our mind is the stronghold and the open gate for the enemy, but our spirit is the base for the Lord to do His work. Thus, when we go along with the mind, we are defeated, even though we may be doing something good. But if we go along with the spirit, we will be victorious. We will be on a high mountain, on higher ground, and, in the words of a hymn, "on Canaan's tableland" (Hymns, #396). We will be in the heavens and will be transcendent.
