To God be the glory, great things He hath done

1
To God be the glory, great things He hath done,
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life our redemption to win,
And opened the life-gate that all may go in.
  Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
  Let the earth hear His voice;
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
  Let the people rejoice;
Oh, come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
  And give Him the glory; great things He hath done.
2
Oh, perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.
3
Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport when Jesus we see.

Thank you for having these lyrics posted!

These are dark days, and I find myself often praying that God might take away my fears and cobcerns, so that I might wholly lean on Him.

I awoke this morning with the tune, and fragments of this songs lyrics in my head;

I believe the the Lord put it on my heart to focus on this song this morning.

A song that I haven't heard in church since probably years before the hymnals got put away... Thank you.

Woke around 145am with an anxiety attack, a few minutes later that song came to my mind and I began humming. So I decided after reading my morning devotions I'll pull it up and sing along, paying close attention to the words. TO GOD BE THE GLORY.

I woke up and the line with " vilest offender and the tune for this song was ringing in my head ! I was like what song is this and then I got on google :) the Holy Spirit was delivering a message to me. To all believers, PRAY BOLDLY. God hears even when the prayers are incoherent and are struggling for words. Praise the Lord !!!!

I didn't know the lyrics but I searched for this song as I remembered my late mother who always had it in her mouth singing in my native tongue, Igbo . May her gentle soul rest in peace.

This hymn always reminds me of the love, mercy, power and faithfulness of God in my life and family. I am always blessed, renewed, refreshed and strengthened whenever I sing it or listen to it. Thanks be to God

Third, we may classify the hymns by the sentiment expressed in the hymns. This is the deepest and most important matter in choosing a hymn. The sentiment of a hymn is the tender feeling of that hymn. The more tender a hymn is, the deeper is its sentiment. Two hymns may have the same subject and be under the same subdivision, but there may be a difference between them in sentiment. For example, Hymns, #39 and #52 are both hymns on the worship of the Father, but they have very different sentiments. Hymns, #39 is a good hymn that is full of excitement. Singing this hymn may make us want to shout. In contrast, Hymns, #52 is a very tender and fine hymn, perhaps the most tender and fine hymn in the section on the worship of the Father. If we study and pray over this hymn, we will sense how deep and tender its feeling is.
