I am not skilled to understand

1
I am not skilled to understand
What God hath willed, what God hath planned;
I only know at His right hand
  Stands One who is my Savior.
2
I take Him at His word indeed:
"Christ died for sinners"—this I read;
For in my heart I find a need
  Of Him to be my Savior!
3
That He should leave His place on high
And come for sinful man to die,
You count it strange? So once did I
  Before I knew my Savior!
4
And, oh, that He fulfilled may see
The travail of His soul in me,
And with His work contented be,
  As I with my dear Savior!
5
Yes, living, dying, let me bring
My strength, my solace from this spring—
That He who lives to be my King
  Once died to be my Savior!

'I stand amazed in the presence

Of JESUS, the Nazarene,

And wonder how He could love me,

A sinner, condemned, unclean.

How marvellous! How wonderful!

And my song shall ever be

How marvellous! How wonderful!

Is my Saviour's love to me!

For me it was in the garden

He prayed - 'Not My will, but Thine';

He had no tears for His own griefs

But sweat drops of blood for mine.

In pity angels beheld Him,

And came from the world of light

To comfort Him in the sorrows

He bore for my soul that night.

He took my sins and my sorrows,

He made them His very own;

He bore the burden to Calvary,

And suffered and died alone.

Selah

When with the ransomed in glory

His Face I at last shall see,

T'will be my joy through the ages

To sing of His love for me.

HOW MARVELLOUS! HOW WONDERFUL!

AND MY SONG SHALL EVER BE

HOW MARVELLOUS! HOW WONDERFUL!

IS MY SAVIOUR'S LOVE TO ME!

'A thousand, a thousand thanksgivings

I bring, my Lord Jesus, to Thee'

O God, what are You going to get out of shedding the blood of the humble earthworm I am…

Thank You for looking at me with a compassionate and merciful eye because of the blood of Jesus Christ.

When I look at my life, if You had decided to end it and to destroy me You would have one thousand times reason. But it pleased You instead of punishing me for my faults, bringing down the punishments which deserve my sins on Jesus.

I am not so skilled to understand that but I believe only in Your promises and I hope in You. You will surely lead me under cover. Thank You Lord.

Though she was born into a well-to-do English family, Dora Greenwell's father died when she was young, and the family estate had to be sold. She struggled with fragile health as she lived alone in London. Why hadn't God given her an easier life? She worked with handicapped and mentally retarded children. Why did they have to suffer so?

When she was 39, Greenwell wrote her first book, The Patience of Hope. She was beginning to see how important patience is for dealing with life's hard questions. But she didn't want to dwell on the unanswered questions; she preferred to think about God's glorious exclamations. So when she compiled her book, Songs of Salvation, she included this poem, "I Am Not Skilled to Understand." - Great Songs of Faith by Brown & Norton

I love the original tune, so simple and easy to sing. The old tune lets these beautiful words shine. A dear friend of mine has cancer and the Lord reminded me of the first verse of this hymn, which I hadn't heard or sung for decades but how good God is to speak to my heart through this song and comfort me. To God be the Glory!

Aaron Shust has put a new feeling into this song, and it is powerful. It is called: My Savior My God. :) Wonderful words put to a new rhythm & tune and yet it is still the same wonderful news of our Almighty God.

Dora Greenwell was the sister of the first Rector of the parish Church of St. Thomas in Golborne (Wigan). It is thought that she penned this hymn whilst staying in the Golborne rectory as her brother's housekeeper.

This song just speaks the 'HEART OUT' and is a 'FAITH BOOSTER'... It is really meaningful and touching... It just reminds us of God's loving-grace and mercy that was poured on the cross and that there is a future hope for us in Him...Indeed "My God He was, My God He is and My God He's always gonna be..." God Bless you...
