In loving-kindness Jesus came
My soul in mercy to reclaim,
And from the depths of sin and shame
Through grace He lifted me.
My soul in mercy to reclaim,
And from the depths of sin and shame
Through grace He lifted me.
From sinking sand He lifted me,
With tender hand He lifted me,
From shades of night to plains of light,
Oh, praise His name, He lifted me!
With tender hand He lifted me,
From shades of night to plains of light,
Oh, praise His name, He lifted me!

He called me long before I heard,
Before my sinful heart was stirred,
But when I took Him at His word,
Forgiv'n, He lifted me.
Before my sinful heart was stirred,
But when I took Him at His word,
Forgiv'n, He lifted me.

His brow was pierced with many a thorn,
His hands by cruel nails were torn,
When from my guilt and grief, forlorn,
In love He lifted me.
His hands by cruel nails were torn,
When from my guilt and grief, forlorn,
In love He lifted me.
4
Now on a higher plane I dwell,
And with my soul I know 'tis well;
Yet how or why, I cannot tell,
He should have lifted me.
And with my soul I know 'tis well;
Yet how or why, I cannot tell,
He should have lifted me.

I like this hymn so much. I can play it the whole day and it still sounds so sweet to me. It reminds me that at some time I was in darkness wandering away from God. Titus 3:4-5 says "But when the kindness and the love to man of our Saviour God appeared Not out of works of in righteousness of the Law which we did but according to His mercy He saved us through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.Praise the Lord we are regenerated in our spirit by the Spirit so that we now have the life of God in us in addition to our natural life. This is the proper and perfect salvation that God designed for us.
