Naught have I gotten but what I received;
Grace hath bestowed it since I have believed;
Boasting excluded, pride I abase;
I'm only a sinner saved by grace!
Only a sinner saved by grace!
Only a sinner saved by grace!
This is my story, to God be the glory,
I'm only a sinner saved by grace!
2
Once I was foolish, and sin ruled my heart,
Causing my footsteps from God to depart;
Jesus hath found me, happy my case;
I now am a sinner saved by grace!
Only a sinner saved by grace!
Only a sinner saved by grace!
This is my story, to God be the glory,
I'm only a sinner saved by grace!
3
Tears unavailing, no merit had I;
Mercy had saved me, or else I must die;
Sin had alarmed me, fearing God's face;
But now I'm a sinner saved by grace!
Only a sinner saved by grace!
Only a sinner saved by grace!
This is my story, to God be the glory,
I'm only a sinner saved by grace!
4
Suffer a sinner whose heart overflows,
Loving his Savior to tell what he knows;
Once more to tell it, would I embrace—
I'm only a sinner saved by grace!
Only a sinner saved by grace!
Only a sinner saved by grace!
This is my story, to God be the glory,
I'm only a sinner saved by grace!

I hope to sing this song at Cameo Sunday at Bethany Church Houghton-le-Spring this year.

I've been studying 1 Corinthians 15 and this song came to mind. I learned it in church when I was a child.

This great hymn was written at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. Dr, Gray, the thirds president of Moody wrote the lyrics. D.B. Towner, who was the chairman of the music department for many year, composed the music. To God be the glory. God bless the school that D.L. Moody founded.

This Hymn touches the very heart of my soul. Whenever I listen I the deep love of Jesus in the face of all my wretched and filthy nature. I am always in awe of HIM.

This classic hymn touches my soul in a very fresh way. It reminds me of the amazing love of Christ who humbled Himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross! so that a sinner like me will be saved. This is an amazing story of the assurance and the joy of our salvation.

We can't make on our own, it's by the grace, the grace and the grace only.
I really like this hymn. It reminds me of home where we use to sing it in Swahili using the book of songs called "Nyimbo za Mungu" meaning songs for God.
Fortunately I took a book before leaving.
I've just discovered this website some minutes ago and I am really blessed. Thanks.
May Jesus bless you.

I really enjoyed singing and listening to this hymn. Recently I read the note from the writings of John: John 8: 3, and 1 John 1:
The one who is without sin - the Lord
The one who is qualified to condemn sin - the Lord
The one who is qualified to forgive sin - the Lord
The one who is able to set people free from sin - the Lord
The Lord is the self-existing, and ever-existing God, the great I AM, who was lifted up on the cross, to draw all man to Himself.
The eternal God, came into us to be life and light to deliver us from the bondage and darkness of sin (NT Recovery Version p. 403).
Amen, what can I say but saying, "I am only a sinner saved by Grace
This is my story, to God be the glory!".

What a wonderful experience to know - He hath made Him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Cor. 5:21
