1
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
3
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
4
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
In Him, my righteousness, alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
In Him, my righteousness, alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

I don't hope in man but in Jesus Christ, because He is the solid rock, you will never sink if you hold Him.

Jesus Christ is my only hope and trust.

So I noticed a couple of changes from the original and wanted to offer some corrections:
Verse 1 should read : "than Jesus' blood and righteousness"
And verse 4 should read: "Dressed in his righteousness alone"
Not sure why the lyrics were changed on this site, but every hymnbook I've seen has it as written above.

At the end may I then in Him be found! This is the crux. May our hope not be in vain in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
I would change the words to "Jesus Christ's righteousness" in verse 1 and "In His righteousness alone" in verse 4. I understand the writer of this hymn probably means that our righteousness is only in Him, imputed through faith, but it could have been written more clearly so not to be ambiguous to anyone by mistake. Modern contemporary Christian music (CCM) has all kinds of words everywhere that glorify man and preach false things so I like the old hymns better. This is a beautiful song, I do see the commas there to infer it's His righteousness alone in us but it could have been written clearer. :)

Hymns are sounds of the spirit.
So you want to engage God?
Engage the spiritual sounds, they will renew your heart daily and make your relationship with the Great Monarch of Zion, the lifter of men, the Father of all spirits and the Immortal God to come into your space daily..
Have a great day and God bless you!!
