1
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
2
When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
3
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
4
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
In Him, my righteousness, alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
In Him, my righteousness, alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

Hi Lisa, thank you for asking that question. It caused me to consider the meaning of that phrase "the sweetest frame". I even looked it up in the dictionary. I think it means don't trust the sweetest situation or circumstance that you're in. But even in the sweet situation or "sweetest frame"" we still need to wholly lean on Jesus' name.

No other grounds... only my solid Rock Jesus Christ. Found this song while sitting at the hospital bed of my 99 year old patient

A song that touches and soul uplifting too. Truely on Christ the solid rock we the children stand outside is sinking sand. Praise God.
