Praise to the Lord, the Almighty,
the King of creation!
O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy
health and salvation!
All ye who hear,
Now to His temple draw near;
Sing now in glad adoration!
the King of creation!
O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy
health and salvation!
All ye who hear,
Now to His temple draw near;
Sing now in glad adoration!
2
Praise to the Lord, who o'er all
things so wondrously reigneth,
Who, as on wings of an eagle,
uplifteth, sustaineth.
Hast thou not seen
How thy desires all have been
Granted in what He ordaineth?
things so wondrously reigneth,
Who, as on wings of an eagle,
uplifteth, sustaineth.
Hast thou not seen
How thy desires all have been
Granted in what He ordaineth?
3
Praise to the Lord, who hath fearfully,
wondrously, made thee!
Health hath vouchsafed and, when
heedlessly falling, hath stayed thee.
What need or grief
Ever hath failed of relief?
Wings of His mercy did shade thee.
wondrously, made thee!
Health hath vouchsafed and, when
heedlessly falling, hath stayed thee.
What need or grief
Ever hath failed of relief?
Wings of His mercy did shade thee.
4
Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper
thy work and defend thee,
Who from the heavens the streams of
His mercy doth send thee.
Ponder anew
What the Almighty can do,
Who with His love doth befriend thee.
thy work and defend thee,
Who from the heavens the streams of
His mercy doth send thee.
Ponder anew
What the Almighty can do,
Who with His love doth befriend thee.
5
Praise to the Lord! Oh, let all that
is in me adore Him!
All that hath life and breath, come
now with praises before Him!
Let the Amen
Sound from His people again;
Gladly for aye we adore Him.
is in me adore Him!
All that hath life and breath, come
now with praises before Him!
Let the Amen
Sound from His people again;
Gladly for aye we adore Him.

The tune played in my head this evening and searched it out. So glad I found it. Stanza 4 ministered to me a lot

I played a collection of baby praise songs this morning and this hymn caught my attention. I particularly was drawn to the line, "Hast thou not seen how thy desires have been granted in what He ordaineth?" God has granted desires of my heart graciously, though I in no way deserve it. Thank you for your love and grace, Lord. I love you, Jesus.

Had this song stuck in my head all night. Woke up to search it up and sing. I love the words, the meaning, the comfort. Hymns are so beautiful and this one is no different.

Years ago, we used to sing this great hymn in the Presbyterian church. Now that I am older, this hymn goes through my mind and I get to humming it.

Beautiful words to a wonderful old hymn to help me fix my eyes above as I begin my quiet time today. I’m so grateful for the memories it calls up of the faithful people who have gone on before. Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!

I had this hymn running in my mind a few hours ago. I contacted a fellow Christian friend and hummed this tune to him. He took about half an hour and got back to me with the song on YouTube. This hymn has such a sweet uplifting melody to praise the Almighty Lord and Saviour of all mankind. Blessed be the Name of Jesus. Praise the Lord. Alleluia.

Joachim Neander, became famous in just a short amount of time. He only lived to age 30. Wasting away of tuberculosis, just as he turned 30, Joachim lived in a corner of Germany named after his own family, the Neander Valley. It was here nearly 200 years after his death, that a skull was discovered, Which led to the idea of the “Neanderthal man, ” named after this very same, Calvinist pastor, schoolmaster, and hymn writer. Before he passed away, Neander had composed some 60 hymns, one being the still well known, “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty. ” Although growing up, living a rather loose and immoral life, Joachim was dramatically converted at a young age as he attended a service by a visiting preacher. Serving as a school-master for sometime, Joachim nevertheless, ran into trouble by attaching himself to the Pietists, whose focus on individual spirituality, round counter to the traditions of the established Lutheran Church. Dismissed from his post, Joachim lived part of his life in seclusion in the Neander Valley. Then declining health cut short his life. In spite of these difficulties, Joachim’s hymns are filled with joy and praise, and have blessed many down through the centuries.
