Jesus, keep me near the cross,
There a precious fountain,
Free to all—a healing stream,
Flows from Calv'ry's mountain.
There a precious fountain,
Free to all—a healing stream,
Flows from Calv'ry's mountain.
In the cross, in the cross,
Be my glory ever;
From the cross my ransomed soul
Nothing then shall sever.
Be my glory ever;
From the cross my ransomed soul
Nothing then shall sever.
2
Near the cross, a trembling soul,
Love and mercy found me;
There the Bright and Morning Star
Sheds its beams around me.
Love and mercy found me;
There the Bright and Morning Star
Sheds its beams around me.

Near the cross! O Lamb of God,
Bring its scenes before me;
Help me walk from day to day,
With its shadow o'er me.
Bring its scenes before me;
Help me walk from day to day,
With its shadow o'er me.
4
Near the cross I'll watch and wait,
Hoping, trusting ever,
Till I see my Savior's face,
Leave His presence never.
Hoping, trusting ever,
Till I see my Savior's face,
Leave His presence never.

It is Amazing to know that my spirit longs for God. Appreciating the beauty of the cross upon which our salvation was won. God, I love you. Permit me never to seperate from you again. Amen

Lord I honour your name. This song makes me so emotional. And I want to live in the light of God so I will be able to meet him when that day comes.

As I'm having my quiet time this morning, this soul lifting song came to mind over and over when I laid on my bed listening to my Lord. It was a sweet moment as the Holy Spirit moved me to sing all the stanzas. Before then I whispered to my Lord how my desires are to meet with Him, then the urge to sing came... Lord just help to watch and pray by your cross till my raptured soul shall find rest beyond the rivers. Amen.

My wife and I joined about 50 other pilgrims for a New Year trip to The Holy Land. We saw many sacred sites, we heard many languages, and we fellowshipped with many new friends. A memory highlight was hearing a group of oriental Christians weaving through the narrow, crowded streets of Jerusalem singing this familiar hymn in their own tongue as we joined in ours. It felt like being in a global mass choir as the chaotic din gave way to vespers.

This song was in my head this morning. Hadn't heard it for years. Thank you dear Lord Jesus! You came down! You laid down! You rose up!

The earnest desire of a true believer is to be constantly kept near the cross. Jesus is the only one that can help us stay close. Life challenges draws us more closer to him because it proves our faith in him. When we go through the waters and through the fires , let us know we are only drawn closer and closer to the cross not to get drowned or burnt but rather that his glory will be seen through us.

I just got this song from the Holy Spirit. We've placed the power and symbol of the cross in the dark for a long time. The lyrics of this song show us why we should tarry near the cross. Because anytime we lift our heads we will see Christ and continue to be reminded of His love with increasing faith. Christ said "take up your cross and follow me". Following him makes it easier for us since His destination will be our goal, and from the last stanza of the song, when we've finally gotten to the destination, Christ will turn His face unto us for us to see him, for our faith in continuing to follow him although we couldn't see His face. It's the faith in Christ and the Power of the cross that can only make us follow Christ unto perfection without fumbling.
