The Goal of the Gospel

LSM98 NS361 NS361c

The goal of the gospel is that,
Loving the Lord Jesus
With the first love,
We would pour out upon Him,
Pour out upon Him
What is most precious to us,
Even our most costly and valuable
Spiritual treasure,
“Wasting” ourselves upon Him.
Even our most costly and valuable
Spiritual treasure,
“Wasting” ourselves upon Him.

I am still not quite sure what it means by spiritual treasure. Maybe someday the Lord will show me what this truly means. However, I can't help but see two pourings here. There's the pouring of what is most precious to us (for me it is the self) and the pouring of our spiritual treasure (for me this is Christ).

To me at this stage in my life to pour out myself is to remain crucified; to pour out my spiritual treasure is to give the life that I have been given back to the Lord. To go His way in all things for His purpose. Even despising what I could gain for myself in the world. To pour out the portion of Christ given to me by giving my life to know Christ and the church and to minister Christ to the church and to the nations.

And He said, Do not stretch out your hand upon the boy, nor do anything to him; for I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me. Genesis 22:12

Abraham waited so long for Isaac. He went through so much to try and gain Isaac even out of His strength. He learned so many precious lessons along the way. Eventually God gave him what his heart desired most. Then God asked for the boy back. Abraham was willing to let go of that which was given to him.

Are we willing to pour out what is most precious to us? Lord make me willing.
