Let me love and not be requited

Cs428 NS19

Let me love and not be requited.
Let me serve and not be rewarded.
Let me labor and not be remembered.
Let me suffer and not be regarded.

Let me pour wine, while I drink not.
Let me break bread, while I keep not,
Pour my life out that others be blessèd,
Be in suff’ring that they be contented.

None to pity me or care for me,
None to praise me or to console me.
I would rather be desolate, wretched,
Lonely, friendless, and wrongly treated.

With my blood and tears pay the price to gain the crown,
Suffer loss that I might a pilgrim’s life live out,
For, Lord, this is how You lived Your life
when You walked on this earthly sphere,
Gladly bore all loss that those who drew near
Could be freed from all suffering and fear.

I know not how far the future lies ahead.
On this path of no retreating I am led.
So, Lord, let me now learn from Your perfect pattern,
Suff’ring wrong, no resentment in return.

May You in this difficult, tedious day,
All my tears shed in secret wipe away;
Learning You are my only solacement,
And let my life for others’ joy be spent.

This hymn is so precious to me. The part of the Watchman Nee biography was contained in it.

What a wonderful gift for the Body of Christ was and is this brother and his ministry.

I heard about the song while listening to Bro. Zac. Poonen iam also grip by the song and I saw how selfish and self centered I have become in so many areas in my life am sorry Lord show me mercy. May God help my diligence and determination in Jesus name amen. Brothers and Sisters there is more and more in Christ to be revealed to us.

The hymn "let me love and not be requited" from through the hand of brother Nee is very good and most honorable, actually it would be the base of the love of new human life. But since restricted by time, however, the "I know not how far the future lies ahead" has expired.

Giovanni Bernardone, who was better known as Saint Francis of Assisi, was a mystic, medieval monk who spent his lifetime as an evangelist, preaching and helping the poor people of Italy.

Francis was born in Assisi, Italy in 1182. As a soldier he lived a life full of indulgence but at age 25 his life radically changed when God touched his life. From that moment on, Francis was determined to serve Him by imitating the life of Christ here on earth. Although Francis came from a wealthy family, he denied his inheritance and lived with the most meager of possessions devoting himself to going from village to village as Christ’s representative. When he was 28, Francis founded the Franciscan Order of Friars. It later developed into a large movement of young men and some women who adopted his beliefs and ascetic life style.

Francis was known for his great love of nature, seeing the hand of God in all creation. The hymn “All Creatures of Our God and King” is a popular hymn (not found in hymnal. net) is said to have been written one hot summer day in 1225, a year before his death, while Francis was very ill and suffering from the loss of his eyesight. Throughout his life he made much use singing and believed strongly in the importance of church music. He wrote more than 60 hymns for use in the monastery.
