I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice

1
I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
  And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith,
  And be closer drawn to Thee.

Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
  To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
    To Thy precious, bleeding side.
2
Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
  By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
  And my will be lost in Thine.
3
O the pure delight of a single hour
  That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God,
  I commune as friend with friend!
4
There are depths of love that I yet may know
  Ere Thee face to face I see;
There are heights of joy that I yet may reach
  Ere I rest in peace with Thee.

Glory to God!

May we all deny ourselves daily, take up our cross daily, and follow Jesus. May we not take for granted the dying of Jesus on the cross and the reason He had to. In Jesus name, Amen.

This beautiful and uplifting hymn swelled up within me as I sought the Lord’s Face for the first time in 2025. It was a call to me to go more closer to Jesus as this year commences as His Word instructs us to draw nearer to Him and He will do same-James 4:8a.

I love this hymn... the tune is very uplifting, inspiring and joyfully engages us with other saints... the words affirm, acknowledge and "draw us nearer" to the Lord and His cross. However, I think we realize there is more to be revealed regarding the cross, i. e. , as another hymn says, "The Lord hath yet more light and truth to break forth from His Word" (Hymn #817). We are not only drawn nearer to the cross but we ourselves were crucified WITH Christ. Our sins are not only forgiven, but we ourselves are on the cross, too! This is crucial for our daily, subjective salvation! Lovely and inspiring as this hymn is, "nearer" to the cross isn't close enough... Paul says we are "crucified WITH Christ" (Gal. 2:20, 5:24, Rom. 6:6, Col. 3:9) and that we are "raised together with Him" (Eph. 2:5-6, Col. 3:1, 2:12). The matters of our co-crucifixion, co-resurrection and co-seating in the heavenlies with Christ our Lord far surpasses traditional notions of a somewhat objective salvation and forgiveness of our sins. I have discovered a rich source of further light on these matters in the "Ministry Books" app available from Living Stream Ministry. Diligently using the search function for key words opens up a tremendous treasure store! Thank you Lord for these revelations, fellowship and advancing us in our rich faith (Eph. 1:17).
